Dealing With Depression Islamically

Where I live there are very few Muslims. 95% of the people who live here lead secular lives. They smoke, drink, party and so forth. Most relationships are "hook up, shack up, break up. This is the normal here. Even before being blessed with Islam, I was called differently. So I keep to myself. I have three children, 16, 20, 23. My two oldest sons have autism. I try to keep them from the norm of were we live. I am a single mom. I have my mom and three kids, but I am the only Muslim in my family and area. Becoming Muslim is still a shock to me . Who knew this is where Allah would lead me when I prayed to know him - surprise. I am very happy to becoming Muslim Alhumdulillah I am so blessed. But it's very lonely. Can you do a talk on how to manage isolation and loneliness. I think there must be many others too facing such feelings and reality.

@@CcCc-ug3xb I am sure he didn't mean any like that. I grew up with only women, was married 16 so of course never had male friends, than once I was divorced was in a Christian singles group. The one thing I learnt was men and women friendships can be trouble. I am just awkward with men, so I didn't say anything back. You cant say anything wrong when you dont talk. It's hard being the only Muslim. Its lonely living a clean godly life in a secular world. My heart goes out to him. Insha Allah may Allah bless him with friendships that draw him closer to Allah.

There is plenty of support up and down the country for reverts, if you are anywhere near Birmingham I know if revert groups who would be more than happy to help .may ALLAH give us all hidaiya and unity amongst humanity .

Salaam Gracy. One advice I have heard concerning your situation is this; you should move if and I stress if it is possible, to another city or place perhaps within your own country or to another country where there is a larger muslim population. It is good to surround yourself with other Muslims especially so if you are a Revert. It makes learning Islam a lot easier. Salaam.

I have had clinical major depression since I was like 14, and I’m a new convert. This has been helpful. It is still very difficult to do daily tasks because of my depression, including salah, but I do try as often as I can.

I can feel you. Just stick to learning and studying Islam in details step by step avoiding haram negative stuff and focusing on halal positive things as God has commanded and soon or later you will be fine. well this is the truth of reality which billions of people today do not want to know but you will be my witness after 1 year from now. change your focus to those things which God has commanded all mankind especially understanding the Holy Quran and it's meanings is more than just enough to cure you completely, trust me.

and also depression usually is a hand work of the devils. so follow the ways and teachings of the last and final prophet peace be upon him doing all morning and evening ways of his life but most importantly seeking more Islamic knowledge heals this trial and test forever. In fact I can't stress this more than enough because it is so true and it is the root causes of all our problems and sufferings - In a Nutshell Focusing on wrong things (That is being very far away from the teachings of Islam) is the root causes of all stress and depressions of the Soul due to it's Ignorance by nature Period! and Islam guides you how to over turn all that through striving back to what we were created for. Those who are Ignorant of the teachings of Islam will give you or tell vague solutions which are neither right nor wrong but all confusing - with something missing and that missing link is "Entering Islam Completely" or what we call living a life of Spirituality for your own maker and by the help of your own maker through seeking knowledge of Islam

The Prophet P.B.U.H Told us ONLY one sect will enter PARADISE, this means SCHOLARS from All the other sects will enter the FIRE 🔥🔥🔥 therefore will you follow any SCHOLAR who preaches you . This is why we Should Not be afraid of telling anyone when they are preaching Against the teachings of QURAN or HADITH even if it is a .SCHOLAR, .MUFTI, or .ALIM. The Prophet P.B.U.H said Even if you know one ayat then pass it on, this proves we do not need to become a SCHOLAR, MUFTI, or ALIM before Preaching
