What’s so crazy is I never thought in a million years that Aaliyah would die so young. I thought I’d grow old with her like my mother grew old with her favorite singer Chaka Khan. I remember the day the announced she died, I never cried for a celebrity before but I cried for her because of everything, her sweet personality, her future projects, future family she would never get to make. It was sad and every time I see photos of her her style and grace and beauty and goofiness I am still in awe at how relevant she still is. My birthday is next month Jan 15th I’ll be 44 yrs old and I can’t but think she would’ve been 43 on Jan 16th. I’ve always adored her and always will. I think she can feel the love her fans have for her. ❤️❤️

Aaliyah and the Weeknd, just WOW! 😍 Their voices compliment each other so beautifully and out of all the collaborations after her passing, this song and the Weeknd himself, fits perfectly with her style ❤❤❤ I'm almost certain that they would have collaborated if she was still here today! Her beautiful, angelic voice is undoubtedly recognised despite the higher pitch and I'm so happy to hear it again, it's magical. I'm sure they did the best they could with this demo but the quality was never going to be as clear as it would be in studio . I've always thought the weeknd's beautiful voice was somewhat comparable to Aaliyah's so this is 🔥 This song gives me Aaliyah vibes 100% Only thing that would make it better is her family's complete approval!

Really good track. The vocals sound this way because most likely they didn't have the master with the studio acapella anymore. This master could have been recorded over and all they would have Is a unfinished mix of the song. So with programs they stripped away some of the beat. This is why you may have that robotic type feedback. Hopefully they continue looking for a master. Anyways I'm glad they are putting out the songs. New music like this can generate new fans and further her legacy and message.

Lyrics: How can I explain myself to you? Questions keep lurking through my mind Is it the lover for the time? I've given my heart, my joy, my soul to you If it is real, I sure can't see Gotta start looking out for me And in my, my heart won't take no more I know it seems that I don't care Sometimes my ways are less than fair I feel it's sad for me to take a stand See, you have given me no choice I feel I must exercise my voice and say This feeling, there's no drug that can compare You're so cold, I can't see your breath, I swear And they told me not to fall in love Wondering where it all went wrong You were my poison all along Late nights, I lay awake in tears and pain (tears and pain) Searching my heart for what went wrong (hey) Asking myself, "What's going on?" Why cannot we seem to see things eye to eye? (Eye to eye) Somehow I didn't feel the danger (hey) And now I'm sleeping with a stranger To see all these years, we flushed 'em down the drain (down the drain) Was that a love we can't promise? Now it's too late for both of us No regrets for what we've lost and what we've shared Maybe tomorrow we'll love again But until then we'll stay as friends, oh, one day This feeling, there's no drug that can compare You're so cold, I can't see your breath, I swear They told me not to fall in love Wondering where it all went wrong You were my poison all along Yeah Poison all long, oh-yeah Ooh-ooh-ooh Baby girl, poison all along

@@JacobSocialite there’s nothing in daw or any vst that could fix the filtered vocal lol, it’s not about the mix, it’s about the vocal, they lost the reels (multitrack) of the demo so they HAD to filtered it, also for people who saying they made her voice pitched up, that’s absolutely false lol, i literally have the actual demo from the DAT tape that I bought from someone years ago and her vocal sounded exactly like that in the original

It's funny how over the years her unreleased music still relates to a time period in my life at that time.. this song is no different!! I love you Aaliyah so much!! I must be honest I don't feel the same about her music that's been remixed and such after I care 4u album because I know how much she was a perfectionist and her detail to layering and harmonizing with herself and others. Those layers aren't there but just to hear her voice with different lyrics and tones and even subject matter is still a blessing. I'm forever grateful to still have hype for anything related to her wayy after her passing and blessed to have been a fan and lived in the same era as she walked this earth!!

AALIYAH voice is beautiful and rich by it self!! She proved so many times just like Mariah Carey that they can sing, as a matter of fact radio stations love hearing AALIYAH sing at their stations💯. Her vocals was getting better and better!!! Listen to "never no more" "what if" "rock the boat" i hate when they tweak the vocals because it doesn't sound like the upgrade them!!

We should be satisfied they released a poorly mixed track with filter quality vocals? Actually put time, quality and EFFORT if you’re going to release reworked unreleased stuff. Otherwise, it’s unreleased for a reason and this is literally desecrating her legacy.

I wish you'd made an album of Aaliyah collabbing with artists that were making music when she was alive/in her friendship circle/knew her in real life... Missy, Timbaland, Ginuwine, Da Brat, Usher, Lil Kim, Jay Z, Brandy, Monica, Toni Braxton, Tank etc. Would've been more meaningful. This song isn't mixed well at all and it's distracting. It sounds cheap. You'd be better off just releasing an album of her previously unreleased solo tracks, I'm sure there's plenty.

I don’t think Babygirl’s mom’s approved of any Aaliyah material being released and because those people are truly close to Aaliyah, it’s obvious why they’re not involved. ❤️ May Aaliyah rest & my sweet condolences with her family. 🙏🏽

The keyword in your comment is "friendship circle" and I highly believe that's the reason they aren't apart of any of this or doing those things you want them to do with her music...bc they are her real friends and really knew her.

Pros: Graphics are gorgeous and true to her aesthetic as everything since the label's return has been. Really feels like a natural evolution and a great indication of where Aaliyah's visuals would be at in 2021. Cons: The mixing and the inclusion of modern artists. I understand that including modern artists results in higher streaming numbers and I can't knock a label for doing that. If it brings new fans to discover Aaliyah, then that's fantastic BUT it just always strikes me as really weird because we don't know whether Aaliyah would've worked with people she never even knew of or met. Maybe I'm the minority in feeling like that but that's how I feel. As for the mixing - I feel like if you don't have enough material to work with or any way of making the vocals sound like they belong in the track - why make a posthumous album? It doesn't completely ruin the experience but it does turn it into an album I will listen to twice out of curiosity rather than something I'll return to often the way I can with the work she released while she was with us. Still have high hopes for the album regardless. 🙏🏼🤍

I’m just happy to hear her voice on something new to us. I got the same feeling I use to get when she was still here and released anything. Her voice and style is truly timeless. I know she was a perfectionist and may not have approved of this version but she also loved her fans. I believe she’d be happy to still be able to share herself with us after all this time.

Honestly, this track right here, hands down! Aaliyah, the world misses you so much Baby Girl. When you left this world, I was 5 years old & knew little about it. But recently after listening to your self-titled album, plus this track right here, I felt like your heavenly powerful voice wanted to bring me into tears at my current age of 26. What a multi-generational all-rounded talent God gave us & it's like this song is a preview of what the album has in store. Voices like this will be the Midas touch for generations to come! You're truly ONE IN A MILLION! Your impact is greatly evident in today's world and the world needs voices like hers in this world we live in today. Rest In Power Baby Girl, continue to sing beautifully up in the heavenly skies. The lyrics are rich & sweet. As for The Weeknd, thank you for keeping it classy. I pray that the new album will be UNSTOPPABLE no matter what & may all those involved in this album do poetic justice to Aaliyah and its fans! And may God's hands keep the Baby Girl happier than ever before in perfect rest, peace and joy, AMEN!
