15:37 One of the rare times we see real fear on Toph. She's never experienced Aang's Avatar state before.

"I don't want to say that is a good episode because so many sad things happened." Totally. And yet this is top-tier television. It is a master class in showcasing trauma in youths' lives no less, but without going too far. To this point, the gaang has been able to wrap most problems up in an episode, but they let these kids really go through things, which makes this show so human. And then also somehow they work in all the comedic gold moments, without trivializing the hard stuff.

Aang in that much pain is so devastating. And Katara seeing right past his destructive power, and only seeing her hurting friend is about as brave and wholesome as it comes!

I’ve seen comments elsewhere where people talk about how Sokka holds the Gaang together and how important his contributions are (which they ARE) but the same people disregard how important Katara is to the group. They would not have made it out of the desert if it wasn’t for her leadership. Every single member of the Gaang is equally important (in some of the same ways and in different ways too). Even though this episode hurts my heart, I love that it shows just how valuable Katara really is.

Remember how Aang was devastated when he discovered his mentor’s remains? Appa and Momo are Aang’s only LIVING connections to his people. With Appa taken, that’s emotionally devastating in a HUGE way. Don’t think he meant to go into the avatar state; he was so upset that his emotions triggered it. Tell me you felt the blood in your veins freeze or that your skin was crawling when Aang shouted “TELL ME WHERE APPA IS!!

Katara is the GOAT! When she holds Aang and he lets go the tears in the end it is emotional. He's lost the last remnant of his society and also his spiritual link/companion.

I can only imagine what was going on in Tophs head when Aang went Avatar state, the entire ground beneath her feet shaking as of a hundred earthquakes at once, the sound of 1,000 demonic voices infused with Aangs voice speaking at once. I don’t even know/remember if Toph knew about Avatar state before that

@@wtimmins agreed, the only way she can see is through the earth and then suddenly, when Aang went avatar state she probably couldn’t see at all, in that moment it’s possible she was truly blind. Shit, I can only imagine what something like that would feel like

This was a great episode. Katara is the MVP of the episode for keeping the group together. And keeping Aang from going to far when he know that the Sand benders took Appa from them. Sokka and Momo high and hallucinating was hilarious. I feel bad for Aang. I can't blame him for being upset for having Appa taken from him. Because Appa isn't just his pet/friend. He's last thing from his past. The way he attacked the Buzzard Wasp without any hesitation for trying to take Momo was brutal. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing Meesh and Dee.

Remember how Uncle Iroh told Zuko never to give into despair, while they were living in a cave and Zuko was stealing all these things? Zuko said there was no hope, and Iroh told him that in dire situations you had to give yourself hope. That that was the meaning of inner strength. And Katara, well she's got a whole lot of inner strength!!! Honestly, I think she's a completely underrated character, because most people only see her as the pretty, perfect female main character that the male main character has a crush on. But she is so much more, and that episode really shows it!!!! 😍😍 Also, that sandbender who said "I'm sorry, I didn't know it was the Avatar's bison I stole from a blind, little girl who was desperately trying to keep a tower up", that guy is such a dick. Like it's okay to steal the bison of any other person??? No, it's not. Also, think about the poor animal, you douche. I really hate that guy.

Its not really canon and its just my scenario I made in my own head but I do believe in that last scene, Katara was the only person who would have touched Aang during that moment and not have been hurt/killed. That look he gave is terrifying and its crazy to think what Aang would have done to those SandBenders if Katara wasn’t there.

The AANGST ep is here. A lot of reactors get angry when Aang snaps at Toph (not u guys) which is understandable but they forget that we as viewers know that Toph held the Library from sinking but Aang doesn't. Aang thinks that they barely made out of the Library before it sinked naturally and in his eyes Toph just stood there while the sandbenders took his best buddy. And Toph doesn't clarify that because she does kind of blame herself for losing Appa. Aang is someone that is an Optimist. Its a big part of his character. He tries to look on the bright side because thats how his mentor is. Just because he isnt angsty the entire show doesn't mean he doesn't have trauma. And his friends act as a Coping mechanism for Aang. But Appa is a little different. Unlike his friends Appa is the one of the only remnant things to his culture and his life 100 years ago. So u take the lovely Bison away from him and u will hv all the suppressed emotions and trauma pouring out in the shape of angst and anger. And most people misinterpret this episode and call Aang bratty and whiny when hes genuinely Grieving. Thats why u dont see anyone argue with him. Cause we see Katara argue (with toph for example) and shes brutal but it never comes from a place of malice. So what im trying to say is that she knows what aang is doing isnt fair but she also knows that when we're hurting we tend to lash out on our loved ones because we think they will forgive us. Okay, so the famous buzzard-hornet scene. Many people say Aang kills it and some say he just cut its wings off. And i tend to agree with the latter. Because that honestly is more brutal. Just imagine ur wings are cut off, u crawl the land hoping to get somewhere, somewhere safe, u starve, u get attacked and eventually u get preyed on by ur own species and become a product for cannibalism. ( This isnt confirmed its just my headcanon) Thank god that Aang is a monk and pacifist by nature cause if he wasnt, boy oh boy, those sandbenders would've been dead as hell. Katara is genuinely the heart of the group and if it werent for her, things could've been way worse. Truly the MVP of this episode 👏👏. Also, it's ok Meesh, everyone gets watery by that ending scene. I hv watched this show 13 times and i still to this day somewhat tear up during that scene. I typed a lot and if u don't know, i am what u would call an Aang fanboy, so i personally love this episode. Ik its not a great episode emotion wise but it was a great episode writing wise. Loved ur reaction and i hope u have a nice day 😁😊.
