Yup, aardvarks never stray far from their holes, all right. In fact, usually their territory has multiple holes all over the place so they can easily access any of them in case of something chasing them. And if they can't get into an existing hole in time, they just dig a new one from scratch at a suprising speed, and if the predator tries to bite it while it's doing this, SLASH! Those aardvark claws are no joke, their power ain't pretty.

Humans have coevolved for tens of millions of years with fruit-bearing trees and plants in the tropical equatorial rainforest, a fully mutualistic symbiotic relationship in which they compete to make fruit as nutritious and delicious as possible in order to entice frugivorous animals like humans to eat them, and the unique interaction between their juvenizing biochemistry and our own neuroendocrine system has strengthened that bond immensely, yielding us our long lifespans as well as our large brains and subsequent higher cognitive faculties. www.abolitionist.com/reprogramming/index.html

There's usually associative feeding between the two however, rather than any chasing. Aardwolves, albeit burrowing animals, don't have claws strong enough to dig through termite mounds, so they often have to rely on aardvarks for that. "Aardvarks excavate extensive burrow systems for shelter, which are often refuges for a variety of other animals. They are able to break and penetrate the hard crusts of termite mounds and thereby facilitate the supplementary feeding of other species, like the aardwolf or ant-eating chat, which are not able to open such mounds. Old excavated mounds are also utilized by various species as hibernation or nesting location, which underlines the ecological importance of aardvarks." There are some reports regarding certain feliforms in mixed enclosures, and under the aardwolf section, there was this: zoorope.hu/en-mixed-exhibit-felidae-hyaenidae/ "In a nocturnal exhibit at Zoo Frankfurt the socialization of Aardwolves and Aardvarks was really successful for a long time. Aardwolves were the submissive species and sometimes showed threat behaviour, but no aggression. Mild stress was also present between the species due to the common use of the underground holes." Also, aardwolves are actually much lighter and smaller than aardvarks... Aardwolf: Length: 55-80cm (body)+ 20-30cm (tail) Shoulder height: 40-50 cm Weight: 7-10 kg (avg), Max: 15kg Aardvark: Length: 105-130cm (body)+ upto 70cm (tail) Shoulder Height:~60 cm Weight: 60-80 kg Girth: 100cm That's a lot of difference! :0

Kudos to the cameraman for anticipating the hyenas run and to the Aardvark for that quick turn 1:24 and 1:35 respectively

I clicked so fast, I thought the title read 'aardvark runs down a hare' 😆 I was so confused but delighted in the video, awesome footage, I love these animals..

For years I have thougt that you like Tasmanian tigers (also known as Tasmanian wolves) most. I fully understand that they have already died out. Incidentally, you are THE authority on hyenas. And your vast knowledge of animals is really praiseworthy.

Hyena: How sway! How??? So aardvark can't use their long claws to fight off predators? I thought it would stand its ground and use them Edward scissors ✂️

The camera men scared the wolf and it fled away or else it must dig out the ant eater and eat it.

@doktorhyena4 жыл бұрын
@@TravelerVolkriin No, he's talking about the aardvark. Hyenas have small, dull claws. Also, a hyena's bite is actually not as strong as previously thought, but it is still stronger than a wolf's.

@@doktorhyena what? That’s as strong as we thought.

@@jaredfoster606 i believe that is referring to the larger spotted hyenas. Brown hyenas dont have the bite force of their cousins. :)

how do you remember in another part of town where your house is exactly?
@curious68993 жыл бұрын
@@lythicat8760 ha ha Good question. Typically we remember any location by landmarks or street names. While Aardvark might have used things like little bushes, trees, etc on plains to get in his home I guess, given such emergency + short time, most humans may fail to get in their home if they come across such life and death scenario.

@@curious6899 They have a feeling for it, they dont remember mentally the way we do. But on the other hand, if they are just 50 meters from their hole, they will know, that is their whole life.. :D

He knows and expects that sort of thing is certainly gonna happen. Its kinda like hunger, sends you to go to look for food but you have to remember, you're food yourself, so as you go out, remember your way home! You go out walking carefully and slowly, looking for food, but you are surely gonna go home running for dear life!
