It's so sad to see how they butchered the ending to Robron's beautiful story. And unfortunately, on top of that, we'll have to see Aaron revert back to his teenage self for a while as he figures out how to deal with losing his soulmate and finding out who he is again.

I think Paddy was right, underneath it all, Robert is super selfish. He put his family at risk to keep stalking Lee, he pleads guilty in court without consulting Aaron, and now he breaks up with his husband without Aaron's knowledge. How do you do your own spouse like that?

@@tranquilrabies actually I would argue that everything Robert did since killing Lee was selfless. He handed himself in and cut Aaron off so that he would have a better life no matter how much it hurt Robert to do that. He actively made his life worse by blocking Aaron so that he wouldn’t ruin Aaron’s life. Nothing about that is selfish. If he was being selfish he would’ve made Aaron go on the run with him or made him relocate to the Isle of Wight. The only reason Robert didn’t tell Aaron was because he didn’t want to make things harder and Aaron probably would’ve talked him out of it which he didn’t want. Also, yes, the way he handled the Lee situation wasn’t great but if things had been the other way around and it was Liv who had been raped, Aaron would’ve acted the exact same way.

Robert’s whole exit feels so bittersweet. I love him and feel awful that he has to spend the next 14 (well 12 now) years in prison because he deserves so much better than that. I hate that the show constantly tried to make him the villain even when he was just protecting the people he loves. And even when he was selfless and did the right thing by handing himself in, Paddy still demonised him. It just sucks. I wish he’d got to be happy in the end but at the same time I’m kinda glad it happened this way. Just because at least this way he didn’t leave Aaron because they fell out of love, he left him because he had to. Like at least we know that him and Aaron still loved each other in the end. I’m just so conflicted. I’m definitely glad they didn’t kill Robert off but idk if him getting a happy ending would’ve been better than this. I mean it obviously would’ve been better in a lot of ways but it would’ve hurt to think that he left Aaron behind because he wanted to, you know? Plus it just doesn’t add up. Robert and Aaron would never willingly leave each other at this point. Even if one wanted to move away and the other didn’t, one of them would just do whatever the other wanted so they could stay together. Idk I definitely wish he’d had a better send off and that he’d got to be happy because he truly deserves that but I’m also glad they didn’t completely ruin robron, as in having them fall out of love, at least this way neither of them chose to split up if you get me. Like obviously Robert chose to cut Aaron out, which I’m sure paddy and chas etc will use as an excuse to go back to hating him, but he didn’t do it because he wanted to. I just wish they could’ve found a way to have Robert leave happy while also not ruining robron. I guess robron are ruined either way though. Anyway this is long and irrelevant but I really needed to get that off my chest.
