This is one of best sounding kits I've seen on youtube.

They both sound great to me, but I especially love the "slap" or "spank" sound the clears give the floor toms.

You are a fantastic and very musical player!! Refreshing!! I, too, at 49 years old and 41 years of “different” high end kits, made the switch to the most musical drums I ever heard or played. Sonor’s are absolutely in a class all by themselves and do it without all of the slogan rich advertising used by just about every other drum company out there. My SQ1’s fit in every musical style I’m called to do!! Thanks for sharing your passion with the rest of us😁👍🥁

Just wow!! Sick on them drums!! Whoever wants to be a drummer or excel your drumming to another level, study this guy right here! He is on a different level than the rest! Always been a fan of this guy here! Nice Aaron! Beto

Excellent tuning, micing, and playing. They sound great. Personally I like the clears in this comparison. I like the tuning intervals between the toms, do you do it by ear or do you have specific intervals you are going for?

I tune by ear and by feel.

Did you make the switch from Dw to Sonor? If you did, you made the right choice. Not bashing on drum workshop, they are great instruments, but Sonor are greater in my opinion. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for the comparison. Sonor >Dw

You definitely made the right choice. DW’s quality has been disappointing as of late. Sonor’s quality is second to none, and this is coming from a Tama guy.

Any tuning advice? I have an SQ1 kit but your toms sound so much better than mine!
@AaronHoller2 жыл бұрын
I don't do anything special other than tension both heads to the same pitch, and if that doesn't work, then I tension up the reso only.

Seems like your Sq2 floor toms def resonate a bit more than these did, agree? Thanks
@AaronHoller2 жыл бұрын
without a doubt, it's due to the thin shells vs. the thicker shells of the SQ1. The shell thickness is unique to SQ1 because it's in between heavy and medium.

Excelente 👍🏻
@jasonwilliams98523 жыл бұрын
I’ve got the SQ1 kit too, any suggestions on tuning a 13,16, 18” toms?
@AaronHoller3 жыл бұрын
I prefer 2 ply batter and single ply reso; specifically Aquarian Response 2 Clear and Classic Clear. www.lessonsquad.com/items/1911360329 www.lessonsquad.com/items/1355575096 I tune both heads to the same pitch, or reso no more then a minor 3rd higher sometimes.

Dont you use ur Benny Greb Signatur Snare anymore? Do you prefer the SQ1 Snare over Bennys Snare? Amazing Sounding Kit btw! :D

Yes, I still use the Benny Greb. They are both great snares, and one is not particularly better then the other, just a different color.

The clears have more tone and are more vibrant. The coated are warmer and more controlled. Duh.

The issue is you are using aquarian heads😂 i mean atleast go evans hahaha
@georgeb63005 жыл бұрын
Hey man don't mock Aquarian they make some killer heads (as you can hear)
@jonathanstotz18685 жыл бұрын
The issue is your superiority complex, and ignorance of the slight differences between top-tier drum heads. No one with integrity presents themselves like this, only a child that doesn't understand how to think and communicate.
