Wedged risers change the turning angle of the trucks. For most normal trucks, wedged risers will make them turn quicker and feel a bit less stable at high speeds (more speed wobbles). Some slalom racers will put wedged risers in the front to make the board turn more "surf-like" and allow for a better pump in the turns (you can actually gain speed coming out of each turn by compressing and pumping out of the turn.

Wedge risers are a holdover from slalom skating and are used by some longboarders today to change the way trucks turn. The way they’re set on this particular board in the video, you’ll get more turn from the truck for less “lean.” If the thicc ends of the riser were pointed at the nose and tail, you’d get less turniness.

wedged risers on downhill or slalom boards usually. they allow you to change the turning radius of each truck individually for more/less turn and stability

I'm actually digging that shaped Welcome deck and the way it looks as a complete. It reminds me of decks we skated in the late 80's into early 90's and I'm glad they made a comeback. I personally think every skater should try skating one for a month and maybe would have a greater appreciation for us OG's and the fact we learned all those spin and flip tricks on them. Boards only transitioned into popsicle shapes to make skating easier as time went on because newer generations couldn't skate what we learned on decades before.

Perfect your Ollie and shove, learn 180s, front shove, front 5050, back board slide, fakie half cab, kickflip, Ollie up to manual, heel flip, then practice doing your best tricks down a curb and then two stair. That’s a lot of progress but achievable within like six-ten months. The flips and grind will be the hardest parts, so don’t just get stuck on those.

Nigel makes Aaron's nightmare board...meanwhile I'm actually loving everything about that board! Only needs some deck rails...if doable with that crazy shaped edge! And that list of tricks was awesome, especially ending with the drop in! That's a big step. Sooner than you'd think, you'll be back to retraining yourself on vert (if you ever chose to do so) especially at the rate you were getting better and better until the vert injury... Now it can be a "comeback" when you're "on fire" but in your own way and on your own time! Still, honestly love the AK Nightmare board You did awesome Nigel, well done dear sirs!! Let's Go!

Yeah, so if you ask P.S. he would probably give you a bettter answer than this, but angled riser is so you create a different angle of your trucks to either increase or decrease turn-ability. Yes, for skateboards that are doing grinds and such, not so ideal because of raised kingpin as mentioned by A.K. Angled risers are usually utilized by downhill setups and slalom style longboarding, etc. It can go both ways, if you face the downward slope outward, it increases the degrees of your trucks turning, and inward would reduce it. So if you wanted trucks that coudn't turn so well, you would invert the angles and have them facing eachother, reducing the amount each truck is able to turn. the point of all this would be for things like "Long Distance Pumping" where you have a slalom style longboard, and have the front of the board allowed to turn very easily and the back of the board turn hardly. That creates a fishlike pattern where the front of the board turns quickly and deeply, while back is shallow and tight, making the board propel itself forward, and as many people know and refer to this technique as pumping (no feet on the ground). People do that for miles, hence, LDP or long distance pumping.

Come on Aaron you've never heard of a wedge riser? Aaron Kyro has NEVER heard of a wedge riser?; please. The wedge riser is usually used on cruiser boards for better maneuverability and pumpability. It's also used with surf skates to improve pump ability. It's mostly used for long distance pump, (LDP) setups. True it is very seldom used in core skateboarding, word of mouth, I was told the wedge riser was used by core skateboarders occasionally in bowls for maneuverability (?). I purchased a set of Khiro 10° wedge risers to compensate for the off camber in my 44 in pintail surf skate.
