This is a great jam session, Aaron Mills is an underrated funk bassist, he has great skills like Bootsy Collins but never got the recognition Bootsy had gotten for being a funk bass player.

Saw Cameo several times back in the 80's and they were a band that put on a full show. First time I saw them, they opened the show for 3 other groups and as the opening act, they stole the whole show. When they came back a year later, they were the headliners. Anthony Lockett played lead guitar and would climb out of a coffin playing a funky blues song. Aaron Mills solos were legendary! One of the best RnB/Funk bands ever! Aaron Mills, Larry Blackman, Tomi Jenkins, Charlie Singelton, Nathan Leftenant, Gregory Johnson, Anthony Lockett, Wayne Cooper, Jeryl Bright.

Cat's are tight. Saw Aaron with Cameo back in the nineties at Kimball's East in Emeryville Ca. Venue is closed now but it was the place to be for our 70's and 80's bands at the time. You know how a band starts to hit that musical bone within and you really start to feel that groove? Aaron kinda led that charge that night. And he and the band knew it too! Cocky azz sons a bitches. I too long for the classic days of the major black touring acts. The digital age has knocked out many of the live performing acts (not commercially viable) but Funky musicians and groups are still out there, at least in my area. I'm fortunate to live in Music City USA (Nashville) so I can go into several music venues and find some of the funkiest brothers (pro and semi pro) that you have never heard of performing on stage. Same in Huntsville, Louisville, Atlanta, Memphis, Macon and other cities within an easy drive of here. Hopefully you are near a vibrant music scene and can find this great live music because as a guy who grew up as a wannabe guitar player in 70's Funk bands, there's nothing like witnessing or being a part of a tight funky band. I know it isn't the same, but some of the baddest musicians in the Black community can be heard on Sunday mornings at several neighborhood church's. Call me a heathen..but its very hard for me to get the word when I'm hung up on some of the amazing music that some of these church rythm sections be putting down. I don't recommend it, but if you close your eyes and focus just on the instruments, you might even think you're at a PFunk concert. 🤩🤘🏾

Black musicians/groups are extinct, indeed; and it's getting even more true as time goes by, with the passing of some veterans of vintage funk groups ... Just found out a few days ago about the death of Ronald Bell and Dennis Thomas (''D.T.'') from Kool & the Gang At somepoint, soon, we'll have only the archives, records and videos left, to enjoy all of that (but it's better than nothing after all ...). I'm not that old but am already a ''grumpy old man'' ! This era sucks more and more; one of my pals hardly in his fifties died a few weeks ago from the corona (virus) because he refused vaccination, and strangely I felt he was ''lucky'' and wished it was me instead; but as I watch videos like this one, it gives me some energy to remain positive a little bit !!!
