Some drummers myself included like to hear the kick very loud because it doesn’t have the attack of the other drums. But I usually just have that on my monitor doesn’t have to be in the mix but it’s how a lot of engineers are told or taught to mic this type of just drum performance he’s amazing, I can play like a beast this is another level
