Thank you for posting this do it yourself valve job video Aaron. The viewers can review your video over and over again as they do their own valve job. You might mention that each valve and its chamber are unique in size, and the valves need to stay in the same chamber they were fitted for. The cutting tools and T handle sure make the job easier.

Good job. The Neway cutters are a step above the rest for concentricity and repeatable results. Nicely done.

Nice job. It takes a lot of patience to get this right. Ported, polished and ground valves on mini heads in my teens using stones. Mixed results, but that’s all the fun.

Good explanation, and good on ya for recording. I just had a go at lapping my 4g63t valves and they leak worse than before haah! may need to order a kit to do this or get quote for engineering shop($$$$NZ)

Thanks for watching! If you're only planning on doing the 1 set of valves, it's generally cheaper to have an engine reconditioner do it for you since the price for just one cutting head is about AUD$250, and I imagine a carbide valve face cutter is about the same. The tooling would quickly pay for itself if you've got a few mates that want their valves done though!

Those Neway valve cutting tools look like an ideal way for the small volume shop to do valve jobs without spending 100K on an assload of super expensive machines.

Nice ! tnks for the info ! I just done a valve job on a diferent head and all shows like you do. I have new valves, new seats and new gides. When I seat them the "dull" surface shows in the middle and it´s perfect but in some valves when I test them (filling the port with gas) after 10 min only one, and onle ONE drop of gas is present arround the valve plate and it stops there. Is this normal ? Tnks !

It's pretty difficult to get a perfect seal, a tiny amount of leakage is ok and will probably fix itself when you run the engine for the first time.

so if the contact area with blue ink is low then we use 30 degree cutter...and if the contact area is high then we use 60 degree cutter. please clarify this.

I haven't built the engine yet, but I'll be CCing the head and calculating the compression ratio after I get it back from machining.

what size pilot did you use?

I don't remember sorry, you should be able to find the valve stem size on Google or in a service manual though.

That would be cool but I live in far north Qld so would cost a bunch to send it up to me haha Are you making a custom exhaust or intake manifold? Mine is for RWD.

I could have done that job with stones in about 20 to 30 minutes. Well, I have, many times.
@AaronBonBarron4 жыл бұрын
Having power tools to do the job with would be great, but I do valves so rarely that it's not worth buying the equipment unfortunately.
