I enjoyed shooting empty beer cans, they flew off so I knew when I managed to score a hit, and got mangled by the pellets in a satisfying way. The problem was that the process of getting new targets had a negative impact on my accuracy.

I use empty cans as well i stick tacks on a board then put opening of can over tack.harder for wind to knock them over and stay half the time when shot.

My grandkids love to shoot shotgun clays and that's just one of the many targets both inside and outside at our home. I have a 4x8 double plywood backstop with all kinds of targets in my 4 car garage [I live in Texas] and when we have company, the guys seem to gather there to enjoy shooting. I even have a You Tube video on my indoor shooting range although it has evolved since I recorded that. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy watching!

Cans and wooden squares that fly off is fun but I love dry Wall. I use the hole saw to cut out different size discs that "explode" with a satisfying dust cloud at each hit. I've still got lots of scrap pieces of dry Wall left from the kitchen renovation 8 years ago. Lean them, nail them or screw them😂. If you nail bigger ones up centered, they will also start to spin as you chip away at the edges. Paint dots or whatever.

I've found the ring pull tops off petfood cans, tuna cans etc. are great for a bit of snap shooting. Bend back the ring and hang them on a piece of wire. Stickers can be added if preferred. Recyclable when full of holes.

Good idea, but one will have to be very careful to not get cut. Very sharp edges. Idea: if you’re going to g thru the trouble of attaching string or cord etc, then it wouldn’t hurt to run the edge on a belt sander to dull the edges a bit. Was just a suggestion bc I have not tried it. Might be too thin to sand or grind.

I always do cans and bottle topswith a stainless steel back stop for Airsoft and .177 Pellets Air Rifles. It lets me practice shooting basics. Its not the same recoil wise as a .45 Caliber or 7.62 Round but it keeps me practicing trigger control, posture, breathing and weapon handling without the added problem of ammunition costs and no trips to the range is an added bonus. Besides its fun to see then move and go down one at a time.

As a teenager sone 40 years ago we used to use red match heads as targets using BSA .22 break barrel and iron sights! Not easy to do but a good way to pass a whole afternoon

I use a lot of the CP 250 gas canisters for camping stoves and they have a little red cap over the valve. They stand out being red, small as a beer top size so make a challenging size to hit and best of all they'll stand just about any where even sit on the end of little twigs and branches in trees or bushes. Perfect

We use the firebird exploding targets, legomen are great as well. 9mm blanks you can buy all on e bay. Great fun!

.68 caliber paintballs are another cheap and easy reactive target. Set them up on golf tees on a piece of foam, or drill a bunch of 11/16" holes in a board.

I use an old baking tray, vertical, filled with Evo-Stick Plumbers Mait. This makes a silent impact backstop which holds pellets. Remove pellets periodically with pliers/tweezers.

Been using the exact same thing for the last few years. Occasional (boring and messy) pellet extractions add to my lead plate. ;o) It needs doing, again. Lockdown indoor target practise has its downsides.

Awesome video! I am a fan of diy airgun fixing and diy airgun targets/traps. Loved to see the backstop and trap stand in the back garden. I mostly just shoot paper myself - 14x14cm airgun paper targets for regular shooting or then print crosshair targets on A4 copypaper for determining airgun accuracy and point of impact. I have made two pellet and BB traps upon a 30l paint can lid. The lids of course are strapped to the can. Made also a 30x80cm drop-down, rope resettable, target-backstop of 3mm sheet metal with six 60mm round plates within for some more active shooting in the back garden. Sheet metal traps for paper targets are fun to design and do. Magnets are so way easy to use as paper holders - so you do not have to use or design paper clips etc.

Ground up rubber tires in a box works great for back stop, tape box sheet and a fix target to face. Golf balls, hit em on the edge to get some spin, beer cans but shoot through small hole in pop top. Going to try the valve stem in a plastic bottle top. Thanks great video!

Ice cubes are a good alternative to glass. All the fun of shattering something and the bits just melt away.

I hang 2 vertical cloth closet organizers with roughly 1x1x1ft compartments and I put 4 crosman pellet traps in them for air pistol practice and fun. Dont really bother with a target, just push as far back as I can. I drape 2 blankets behind the rig, great for indoor ranges.

A favorite of mine is a Gamo MTS 1000 system. It is a moving deer target, and helps in training to hit moving targets. Unfortunately Gamo discontinued this product several years ago, and they are hard to find now. It works with .177 airguns under 1000 fps. It is battery powered, and can drain 6 C cells in short order, so a set of rechargeable batteries is rather handy.

I never throw out the top of tin cans, they make great hanging targets. Empty drink bottles filled with water are always fun to shoot at too. I also have a 1.5" swinging target rack that is always fun to shoot at at 25m Since I cannot re-load .22 rimfire like I can all the rest of my centerfire cases, I keep those too and like to plink at them at 10m.

Beer cans and plastic bottles are fun targets. A large plastic juice bottle is my favorite for now. It makes a loud thump when the pellet hits. It is almost as loud as a .22LR

Dad gave me a Benjamin for my 10th birthday in 1957 . My grandparents had an abandoned trash dump nearby where I could plink away, even glass bottles with or without liquid . I no longer live in the country , but city with no way to shoot safely nearby . Would love to have a Daystate Huntsman in .25 for gray squirrels on the family farm when I visit .

I’ve made a confetti claymore out of old pellet tins. Poke a hole in the middle of a tins base, then put one of the exploding targets in it, put some confetti in it(but not too much), put it on a wooden post or something, then cover with cling film or foil to stop the confetti falling out, then shoot it and it blows the confetti all over the place.

Pretty sure if you stick to the law regarding airsoft, your landlord has no say on whether you're allowed to do this. Just ignore them if they say you can't. As long as you're lawful and not destroying the property there's nothing they can do.

Talked to my local PD and they said as long as you are on your own private property and have some sort of backstop for the BBs, there are no laws to stop you. Key word here is your own property, with a landlord it depends entirely on what they decide since it is their property.

Hi Andy. Great show as usual. What have a Walther LP53 air pistol and the movie From Russia With Love got in common. When Sean Connery was shooting stills for the poster they forgot to bring the Walther PPK that Bond uses. A crew member had a Walther LP53 air pistol and that is the one Connery is holding in the poster. I think the air pistol was first made around 1959. They don't make them any more. The pistol looks great and I think would be a great addition to Unmarex's vintage replica air pistol range. It would also make a great AAR on line video. If they do make a replica of the Walther LP53 I hope it's a springer as I'm a fan. Hope you do a show on it Andy. All the best. Keep up the good work. Gerard

Get very thin florescent cable ties for work. About 4mm in width. Good fun to attach a few to a horizontal rod and point the tails upwards to try and slice them in half.

Great review as usual. I've picked up an old pallet I fix target holders and spinners on . I made a few shelves and put on some steel sheet. Keeps me amused and very easy to change around. Be careful not to get one of the really heavy ones unless you have somewhere to leave it ...

I work at a very well known sodas production facility, the 12oz can lid blanks make great targets. I put some butchers twine between two trees and attach them with clothes pins.

Brilliant video.... Funnel traps are great. I have one in my workshop that will stop .223, .308, 22-250, 7mm Rem etc.... The deflector plates are AR500 (1/4") and funnel into a bit of heavy walled steam pipe on a tangent which spins bullets in circles to 'de-energise' them...they just drop out the bottom into a tray... Must make some portable ones for air rifle, in which I have just got interested... Yes, I'm a gun smith so have a good workshop... Those barrage boards' 'bangers' are shotgun primers... so you could make them, and 'refill' perhaps... 🙂 Love your little"Texas Star".... must makes one.. Empty shotgun shells are good targets....free from your gun club

forget your shoot n c targets they to expensive to shoot at lol... what you need is some coloured card, cover it with cello tape and then spray the tape black. ta-da cheap homemade shoot and see and they as big as you make them. perfect for checking your drop at range.... nice vid mate have a great christmas

I’m 100 percent target , the only living thing I would murder would be a wasp or it’s big brother the hornet 🐝,, but then you would have to be an Olympic target shooter with fast reflexes to get one of them buggers , some great targets out there and it challenges your skills , most the things people shoot , I like but I understand certain critters ruin things and cost people serious money, cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧

I've actually shot a bee before at point blank lol. I shoot things to eat, but totally understand not wanting to kill anything, its certainly not for everybody. It's actually very common for hunters to cry after their first kill.

My personal favorite target? I drilled a row of holes (30) down the centerline of a 2x4, spaced an inch apart. Into these I inserted golf tees. Atop the tees, I set 68mm paintballs. Talk about satisfying! They splatter really nicely when you smack 'em with a pellet @ 900fps😉

That sounds like a great and satisfying idea, but won’t you get paint splatter all over the place? I would want my backyard fence marked with paint splatter even if you have a plywood or carpet or something as a backdrop. Idk. Depends on where that target is set up I suppose. Couldn’t imagine that it would be too environmentally friendly even if it were out in the woods or desert. Again, 🤷🏽‍♂️

Here in AZ I use 2 DIY targets. 1'st is an empty plastic 1 gallon milk jug filled with sand. Sharpy marks X's or dots on the 4 sides. Pellets make visible hole and are stopped by the sand. Turn 90 degrees for a fresh Target. When "Murdered-Most-Foul" pour sand/pellets into next jug with funnel. Stomp old "Perforated" one and recycle. Corn Flakes cereal Box- Tape up bottom/corners for strength and fill with sand. (Tape top securely so you can invert it later...) Use Sharpy to draw targets over old CC statements or phone bills and staple to box. Remove Target when done and use Masking tape to cover holes in box. On both targets the impact hole sorta "self heals" to keep the sand inside. Use Wadcutters if you wanna watch it "bleed". Ծ_Ծ

It IS possible to overengineer a Bullet Stopping Box. A Wooden Box with half inch thick steel plates and 30 pound of weight. But its perfect, the hitting bullet makes no loud sound. :-) thx for the Vid!

I prefer paper targets, but my wife spent over £150 on various targets for my birthday plus our lad has loads. I like the small spinner targets and the hft type targets. I have the ferris wheel with ducks. Unmarked because I haven't used it lol. Shot at my sons a few times. But I really do prefer paper targets in a funnel trap. I have one on what looks like a speaker stand that's probably my favourite.
