Good analysis! Your getting better at breaking stuff down 👍 I think it's simple, fame makes you less hungry, whether it's dance, music, sports, ect... Very few people, like maybe 1% of people can stay hungry after they get famous. Maybe the key is becoming well known but not famous famous

Your reaction to Fikshun doing litefeet is the same as my reaction when dancers say they don’t need foundation
@blackemphasisst
@blackemphasisst 3 жыл бұрын
I've felt the same way about both of them. I use to watch fikshun and bluprint A LOT but as time progresses you realize how stagnant they are and honestly always have been. I've said for the longest that fikshun is purely an entertainer, I know he has won some battles and well deserved recognition, but regardless of the setting his style will always be that of a performer. It really doesn't matter what he does, if your style doesn't change with the music itself then you've already plateaued. There's nothing wrong with that, but in the aspect of glorification when it comes to an " All around dancer ", I honestly don't think majority of these cats deserve it. It's just funny how some of the better names in the game you rarely even get a CLIP of, but other dancers are being pushed all throughout social media because below average dancers need to gravitate towards something. I mean, from the perspective of bluprint and fikshun I get why they cater more to the majority than truly sustaining the pure, dignified art of dance. They are big names and the limelight gets dim very quickly so they gotta hold on to., but you are right it just makes others who view them become stagnant because they see how they are glorified with little effort, but watching someone like Icee or paradox (who happen to be some of my favorite dancers), you have to DEDICATE yourself to build their level of skill. I'm not saying that dancers like bluprint or fikshun don't love dance or have respect for dance but I think their approach to it defines how their mindset is which is gain more relevancy to the world rather than other dancers because REAL dancers would critique, request, then affirm. People don't want that they want instant gratification and the world will always give that without much resistance. Honestly, I REALLY appreciate your channel I would have never found a lot of dancers without your reactions to battles and stuff, because I can't just type in " best dancers in the world " and really get an accurate depiction of what it really is. The standard for dancing has gone down. I'll never be on par with even the dancers I think are mediocre, but I know what top tier dancers look like and homie what I be seeing half the time ain't it.

You are right, I honestly think that they and most American dancers focus all on technique which only limits them, when they dance you only see technique and moves, you don’t see them expressing themselves and creating things outside of the known techniques, that’s why all those dancers you mentioned are on another level, because they don’t just focus on technique, they focus on things like expression, vocabulary, story telling and many things that expands their dance.

I think this will be a wake up call for the fans, not the dancers. Like you said, Blu-print got no feetwork, etc, etc. He doesn't train and all that. That dude is going to go right back to tik tok and Fikshun actually thinks he won something. Neither of these cats are going to take this and try to level up. This should be better. We need the real events to come back so we can start seeing these elite dancers back on their feet again. The fact that people are actually hyping this battle at all is crazy.

Metal u r right, it's a bit like watching the originals from back in the day, the rock steady, dynamic rockers, magnificent force, and they still move well, but the standard had moved on and now a higher quality of movement is needed even if once had flow, it does not last forever. SO practise is key. You put it very well.

I feel like those exhibition battles are so artificial that they lack the art I appreciate most, the art of freestyle. That's way I was never interested in choreographies in the first place. Apart from that, I think that being top tier includes getting out of the comfort zone, exploring new ways and of course being a forerunner. From my perspective, I didn't see any of that and half-heartedly tapping into another style doesn't count.

Agree with everything you said. Think Blu's tuts are very nice, and Fik-shun's athleticism/balance is GREATNESS. That being said this battle was not it for me. I can appreciate Fik-shun's confidence and attitude while battling, but when it isn't matched in the slightest it just doesn't make for a good show. Bluprint genuinely didn't seem interested in even being there. A typical feeling I have after a great exchange is the inspiration to practice, look up more videos of the artists, or even find the songs that were played to get down to them myself [ sometimes great dancers actually make me think I like the songs more than I really do, and I find out later that I don't like them lol ]. I honestly didn't feel any of that after this, didn't FEEL anything. What is dance without feeling.

I believe there's a disconnect. In my opinion, (may not be a valid opinion because im not a dancer)a good amount of the new generation of dancers like dancing to demonstrate, illustrate and showcase what they can do to the music instead of truly express what they feel & can create within the music.

Well, there is a point to what you said....all us "older school" people who grew up watching Waydi, rochka, sadek, etc. always had in the back of our minds, what the future held for the new "innovative" dancers.....I have to say, I AM disappointed. An analogous incident would be how real meaningful Hip Hop was the thing back in the 90's, and we thought the new generation would kill it lyrically, but instead we get rappers who DONT RAP TO THE BEAT, but instead, RAP TO SHOW YOU WHAT THEY CAN "DO" TO THE MUSIC.....not what the beat can dl to their flow and wordplay. So they invented mumble rap. That's my analogy.

At the end of the day the most disappointing thing is not these two dancers but the format itself. If the format was freestyles alone I promise you we'd have a rise in quality. I'm always happy to see new tuts from Bluprint, too bad I didn't see shit with these camera angles. Blu doesn't owe us anything but this isn't how you want to be remembered. The tragedy is him and Blu not raising the bar when in my mind they are capable of doing so. Fik at least, Blu might need to hit the treadmill first. Krump used to be a lot like this, 99.9% routine/theatrics but it evolved and you have Boy Mijos and Ruins who are freestyle monsters without betraying their style AT ALL. IT CAN BE DONE.

As much as I love Bluprint, I don't think he has ever been a good battler. I love what he does and how smooth and clean everything he does along with his choreography in older videos, but in terms of being a battler I just feel like he isn't of that cloth. His technique and his skill only take him so far and I think that the moment you put him against someone who...I don't even know how to describe it other than 'feels at home' in a battle, you see serious shortcomings *at that level of dance.* That's the key there, like the difference between the top 1% and the top .01%. I have to give props to Bluprint because it seems like he is actually moving around the arena now compared to where he was before, trying to utilize more space which I hope he continues. Fiksun is a battler through and through but I also feel like he loves to show off technique and never finds a thread to move with for more than 8 bars. His technique is awesome, and I mean that in the awe inspiring manner it was originally used, and he has a lot of diversity in his moves but I never feel like they get connected? Like it's from one move to the next. And I think this Flexing style reinforces hitting roomshaker moves over consistency of a round. I know I stan Joker from Yudat every chance I have but in Joker vs Rubix, you commented on how smooth the rounds were in that he always was keeping a thread of what he was doing and it never seemed like he needed to fall back to a move to set up for the next idea. I feel like this battle was the opposite of that. It felt like they were showing glimpses of a concept and then a big move on the end of the 4th or 8th bar or lyric like it was an expected punchline. Again, their techniques are fucking awe inspiring and their skill in them shows mastery but the rounds felt lacking.
@sirlordcomixx1

Yeah comments are basically right, being a dancer myself you have 2 types in general. Those that have moves for stage and those who regularly do battles. When u battle u learn to react much faster, because everything counts. When u do stage or video its more about lightning and angles and u r not mentally trying to out do yourself just look good for the moment. But battles your opponent may do your move, so it hard to be in a comfort zone. I found I got better when I battled more, u would meet different dancers so this would improve your abilities further. Both great dancers, though.

Fik-shun if you watch long enough-you know what he's about and stigma cuz of their names is pretty sad when it should be about the dance. I dont dance but Rubix and Jimmy Yudat are my inspiration cuz to me they are always in the music and just deliver everytime even if its not something crazy. Both looked awkward for me. Bluprint seemed one dimensional and Fik Shun felt like he was desperate in showing that he learned new moves; it's like that one kid who shows off that he got new toys. Fik Shun's philosophy in dance is immature and downright annoying. It makes it more of a tragedy that he can be better but it seemed like he is so stubborn to improve. In the previous video wherein you critiqued Fik Shun, he responded as if he was doing everything right. Quite sad. lol

I agree with the most stuff you've said, but show me one dancer from the names you threw that have as good as Fik's technique. I honestly think Fik shun is always trying to be clean or perfect in other words and that might be the problem and if I'm being honest his moves are most likely appeared to be over repeated, But I've also noticed that he has changed or he's trying to change in recent battles.

The thing is with this battle is it feels like they out of practice, but that's probably because they are. Might sound like an excuse, but over here in the UK there are no Dance Studios, no Sessions, no Cyphers or anything happening because of the current situation. If it's like that for you guys in the US, dancing in your house leads to limited movement, which leads to stamina problems like Bluprint showed cause you haven't been dancing all out for over a year now. Of course there are ways around it, but I understand the general level of dance being bad this year

Thats an excuse. You have everything here in the internet (top tier dancers). The air to breath in a battle or studio is the same at home. You can always improve your skills. The top tier dancers doesn´t care. In this moment these dancers grow.

You have to understand freestyle will never equate to battle mode ! So you can’t expect to see in freestyle what you’ll see in a battle 2 different zones it wasn’t that bad to me. I can appreciate the fact they both are social media giants and still getting in the ring . Draem is a great battler but even better freestyle dancer ,And I am a Memphis jookin legend so I know what I’m looking at .. but dope content

I normally agree agree with about 60% - 80% percent of your critiques and view points. But this right here, 110% percent. I think dancers get romanticized by there history. When someone that has had your undying loyalty and support for many years fall short your mind fills in those gaps with past performances. Subconsciously you give them a pass because you have seen them at there best. I had very little emotion when watching this. Yes there was dope dope moves and great technique at times but as a whole in one word: Unremarkable! “ Good dancers, move to the music, Great dancers let the music move them, Elite dancers move as one with the music” -Marcelous

Long time coming. Niggas wanted this battle ages ago. Bluprint a straight Tiktoker now. Boy still clean but he got to get in the lab again. As for Fikshun, I think he gets too much hate for no reason. For a guy who lacks foundation he has beaten a lot of impressive dancers. But because he’s not on the level of some of the best he almost never gets credit. People usually say he’s overrated. EDIT: Fikshun will probably be pissed off by this video. 😂😂😂

Bluprint vs Fik-Shun was cool but it was disappointing. Also so was Ghost vs NonStop was disappointed. Kidd vs D'Andrea was a GREAT battle and so was MP3 vs Draem was dope.

You know those battles where they be like “nobody won this battle, the people won” this is like, the opposite of that lmao I’m pretty sure we all lost something for this kerfuffle. Also somebody stop Fikshun from doing the harlem shake, this man is a menace 😂

if i say bluprint was better , y'all will disagree and treat me like i know nothing about dancing right ? actually he REALLY was better .. and you my man my doctor who teach me how to judge "dancing style" , now honestly i don't understand the reason of your cold reaction, is that because fikshun is your friend ? or bluprint is not a "battler" ? i need an honest answer to learn more , maybe i'm missing something , i own you an explanation doc

Just wanna say this cause you mentioned bluprint dances the same (he’s tuts a lot so it seems the same I see what you mean) but you should watch bluprint vs voltage but the one from 4 yrs ago you’ll see a difference he used to be a lot more vibey with the music and focused on the prize now he’s more focused on short isolated moves but tbh thats probably due to dancing with other dancers a lot or something lately also I’m pretty sure he only danced at this event for the experience he’s not a battle dancer he’s a performer the reason why he’s so high up is because he’s one of the most controlled and isolated dancers as of today I expected a little more than that tho Fik shun deserved the win for sure

People may complain about Fikshun’s lack of foundation but it’s worth noting that he’s beaten several great dancers without having one. Just saying. With that being said, I agree that the battle was disappointing. It wasn’t as competitive as I thought that it would be.

Honestly wat I can is that compared to how I know fik shun and bluprint to me this battle was just eh because compared to wat I've seen other dancers do in battles this battle was a bit disappointing ...so many up coming dancers that I know for fact are killing it are been put to a low standard just because they not famous ....and I honestly agree to wat you are saying I've watched bluprint and fik shun for years and honestly it's a bit more worse and the same thing all the time so yeah that's my take on it
