If you think this is bad watch "jafromobile",thats engine building 101. Says hyundi engine but its a 4g63 so i used the info when i had a evo2/3, but it's basically same from evo 1 to 9..

Very interesting set of videos Aaron...it’s now very obvious to me why an R1 engine rebuild a ‘’mechanic’’ helped me complete a few years back ended with an engine replacement 🤦‍♂️

Aaron do you plastigauge? ,sorry if I missed it? And what suspicion make you start looking into this engine,why did you think it mite have problems,but wow lucky you did because you caught it at a good time before did a lot more damage,👍
@AaronUnknownPerformance
@AaronUnknownPerformance 4 жыл бұрын
Go check the video before this which explains everything. Plastigauge isn’t accurate enough, everything is measured using a dial bore gauge and micrometers.

IF you have to make the ring gaps bigger do you file the gaps?? if you know what I mean And the ring gaps are not in line with each oather??
@markcozzie
@markcozzie 4 жыл бұрын
There's a special tool to use its like a wheel and with the ring flat you file from one the gaps edge,(on all rings you file same edge say if left do all from the left,)should be loads videos on KZbin....
@markcozzie
@markcozzie 4 жыл бұрын
When installing the pistons yes you mix up the ring gaps when installing the piston in the block,there is a set way,like top ring at 12 o clock,middle ring at 6,oil ring at 15 minutes past...hope that helps..
