Pluralism and the idea of 'let and let live'', while embracing and accepitng all beliefs, and ideas in the marketplace of ideas, be it religious, spiritual social or political, (so long as no harm is done to others), has alwasy been the core foundation of indian/hindu culture, philosophy and spirituality. To say that being a hindu nation is a threat to democracy and pluralism, is like saying that being a democratic pluralist nation, is a threat to democracy and pluralism! FYI, Hindu is a geographical term synonymous with the word indian. Hind is the persian word for india, and the word india is the greek and later british word for india. To say that its disadvantageous for india to become a hindu nation, is like saying, its disadvantageous for india to be indian nation! You wouldnt say that its problematic for france to be a french nation or russia to be a russian nation! So why is it a problem for india to be an indian nation?? Why shouldnt a nation be true to its own indigenous native culture and heritage? It makes no sense, and highleghts a deep lack of understanding among westerners, who too often see everything through their own hegemonic and assumed universalistic paradigm. India is already a hindu nation, and does not fit into the western paradigm of the 20th century construct of a nation state. It is a civilisational state and its native hindu/indian culture is synonymous with pluralism and democracy. For thousands of years, this civilisation was practicing pluralism as naturally as breathing, before the rest of the world even had a concept of pluralism and acceptance of others. It is precisely because of its native hindu/indian culture that, India has been a sanctuary for persecuted minorities for thousands of years. When christianity and islam spread across the globe, and middle eastern and european colonial expansion under these two religion, drove many people and cultures to extinction, it was to India that a few persecuted minorities such as jews and zoroastrians for example, were able to turn for sanctuary. India is the only place on earth where jews were never pogrommed. Even the idea of a relgion called 'hinduism' is a colonial construct imposed on our ethnic indigenous spiritual culture, just because colonisers could not fathom a culture that seamlessly incorporated spirituality into its civilisational identity, and was so diverse, complex and organic, that it did not fit into the judao christian framework. While all abrahamic religions derived their culture and identity from their relgiion, we derived our spirituality from our culture. 'Hindusim' is not a religion in the same sense as western abrahamic concepts of religion. What people refer to as 'hinduism' today, is basically an umbrella term for our civilisational marketplace of ideas, where countless philosphies have been debated and distilled over many millennia, and under which, spirituality or religion, in all its myriad diverse forms and expressions, is but one aspect, of the many different forms of ideas in our native pluralist framework, since time immemorial.

@@revivehinduglry5176 In 1750, India had 23% of the world's GDP because it had 25% of the world's population. However, Britain was already a wealthy country even before it colonized India. If we look at the per-capita income of India and Britain in the 1750s, Britain's per-capita income was three times that of India, and India's per-capita income had been declining for a century before Britain won the Battle of Plassey. Comparing the total GDP of India and Britain in the 1750s to argue that India was richer than Britain is like saying that Uttar Pradesh is richer than Goa today. Later, the Industrial Revolution occurred in the Western world after the Scientific Revolution, with the invention of machines and technologies like the steam engine, and their wealth increased exponentially. Meanwhile, India's global share of GDP dropped to 4% in 1950. The same thing happened in China, which was not directly colonized. In fact, China's per-capita income was even lower than India's at the time of independence. During the 1750s, China's per-capita income was higher than India's. Therefore, if we say that Asian countries are poorer because of colonization, then what happened to countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Ethiopia, and Liberia, which were not colonized? It's worth noting that Nepal has a similar history and culture to India, yet it is the poorest country in Asia. The fact that Nepal was not colonized by the British undermines the argument that colonization is solely responsible for a country's level of poverty.

I don't think India is becoming a Hindu state. Yes, the government is reclaiming India's lost ancient civilization and culture, but that is not turning India into Hindu state. India already is a Hindu country. The word India is itself a grecian pronounciation of the word Hind, which is the root syllable of the word Hindu. All Narendra Modi is doing is re-developing a sense of pride among Indians, who even might have converted to other religions or not, for their Hindu roots.

Amazing presentation about India. I liked the way you included cricket into your presentation Only one correction - MAHATMA GANDHI is not considered a HERO anymore in India Also, remittances received from foreign countries are about $100 billion of. $3.3 trillion economy and exports of $770B. So the remittances are not a big deal The Indian economy runs primarily in internal consumption unlike China which runs on exports. We need the dollars to buy oil & gold our 2 big imports. Also NARENDRA MODI is NOT looking to setup a HINDU STATE. He’s the only politician in a long time who has become the voice of the king subjugated HINDU population who has suffered the colonisation for hundreds of years. We have been at the receiving end of schemes & cons of ABRAHAMIC religions. All that has to stop.

@Hritik Kumar Entire India leaving few organizations or ideologies considered him hero, I am not Gujarati, I am Marathi, I admire Gandhi's work as I admire Bose's as well as Bhagat Sighs work. Everyone had different approaches, but the same goal. Gandhi had a way of non-violence, and Bose had a way of violence, but the goal was the same. The person with limited mind and intellect will always admire one person but criticize others as his mind or brain has not developed enough to understand both approaches. Personal biases and family background also play a crucial role in this. And now a days with social media and all, brainwashing is rampant, so you know the situation.

If you do not understand the importance of Modi and his governance style in the Economic Revival of India, you are missing the entire point. India is growing and will grow because of Modi and not despite him. His core reforms are far-reaching and has given a platform that will enable the young generation to realize their potential. The optimism within the country is viral right now will continue doing so. As far as English is concerned, it has managed to establish it's hegemony for close to a century now. This is not that impressive historically. But, with the decline of US and the dismal condition of Britain, it will cease to exist. Don't be surprised if Chinese or any other language becomes the lingua franca. It's a function of time.

If we don't utilize it at it's full potential in this decade & next two to come, it'll be a huge missed opportunity in building a nation w/ high standard of living that offers tons of diverse cultures, food, languages, festivals, etc w/ state of the art modern technology something India didn't have for a very long time. wonder why the press uses 'Hindu Nationalist' as though its a bad word. Lets change that to "Christian Nationalist" - doesnt sound bad. "Jewish nationalist" - neither does it sound bad for israel, its no more than a description of that nation, although Israel was recolonised by Jewish, the Hindus were never displaced from their homeland.. Every European country like Spain France etc, have crosses on every traffic island in the countryside, and Catholicism pervades every aspect of their life. So what if Hindu (Sanathan Dharma) pervades Indian public space and mindspace and owns it. A Kumbha mela or countless other gatherings show that. Indian public space is Hindu mental space, and the ethos is profoundly Hindu, you cant get away from that, its always been that way, becuase India is the Hindu birthplace. But that doesnt mean it is threatening to others like it doesnt in Catholic nations of today.

British wanted to create a small class of Indians who could rule India on behalf of the crown.... According to Macaulay-" We want create a small layer of Indians who are brown in skin but British in thought, language & taste".They did it accordingly. After the Independence, there were contentious debate around language bec Indians speak more than 1600 languages in which most used language was Hindi (but only 40℅ was speaking). Choosing one language as official language would have put some at advantage but large number at disadvantage.... So policy makers chose to put all at disadvantage by adopting English..... So English was not adopted in reverence for British but to solve a complex problem.

It's important to approach this discussion with an understanding that the European templates of nationalism may not fully align with India's historical context. India's history differs from that of European nations, as it did not engage in the colonization and decimation of indigenous populations, such as the Maoris, Aborigines, Native Americans, or Africans, motivated by religious bigotry. Being mindful of these distinctions can contribute to a more comprehensive and accurate examination of nationalism within the Indian context.

good video. only thing i would like to mention is that india was democratic during the mahajanpadas period circa 1000-500 bce before Britain even existed. it is well documented in the history of democracy. it has it's origins independently in Greece, Near east and Indian subcontinent
