Hate to be knitpicking but the Portuguese lost their colonies to the Dutch, then the UK took some off the Dutch decades later.

Britain left the EU, only just as a result of negative campaigns. UK has been a trading nation since the colonies gained independence. Previously, the UK was funded by the colonies. The education system needs to be involved in training the youngsters on how to look ahead.

I'm from Scotland and so many people I know have ditched living here and now live abroad. I haven't and at 40 am lucky to have a good life that enables me to live here. Nonetheless many of my contemporaries emigrated overseas and I know many others planning to do the same - scarily large numbers of people who see no future for themselves in Scotland, or the UK for that matter. The UK's future indeed looks very bleak and there's no-one with the capacity to turn it around. But I'm increasingly reading about similar problems in countries like Canada, New Zealand, Australia or the US where a lot of the problems we face here, such as living costs and housing, are problems in these places. Perhaps emigration is not the panacea people think it is.

I have two Master's degrees. I'm a digital nomad now. Why live in a police state where taxes are insane, rents and housing utilities and transport are insanely expensive, wages are far behind the US or Germany, white men are hated, and people are rude and arrogant. I can live a middle class lifestyle in much nicer countries in south east europe or south east asia. There's not many good jobs for postgraduates anyway.

I own a start up in London right in the mix, there is a massive brain drain that the government is not talking about? The Tax system is going to increase for companies and I’ve personally seen 45 real really good company leave the country for lower corporate tax…by 2030 he’s right the country unless real change is going to be a 3 rd world country fact
