Comparing Aatrox to aniva or vel when champs like aurora, yone and true damage champs exists is forgetting the core issue why champs like anivia are not popular. Cause why play those older champ when you can play champs like yone or fiora, be behind like 2 kills or nearly 2k gold but still have the ability to kill opposing laner that stomped them stat wise.

I'd say for yone that if you fall off, especially in higher elos, you can't really do much and you just become a utility champ that all he can do is teamfight; however, for low elos, since a lot of the players don't even know his kit and how to fight side against him, yone can pull off some crazy shit.

The way he explained it was really weird but I think what Phreak was saying one of 2 things basically what Naayil said and/or basically saying that since Aatrox is a high skill ceiling, high agency champion he has to pay the winrate tax which is basically having a lower winrate than low agency champs like Anivia. It’s why someone like Ksante and Akali will generally have a lower winrate than someone like Anivia.

Guys, what is your insight about Aatrox's Shojin build path? I am just starting to play Aatrox and got confused on this build path because I've been watching Naayil from the long time and yet he still not using it. Is there any condition to use shojin on Aatrox?

The issue with buying Shojin is that it's a more expensive Black Cleaver with less utility. If you're in a game where enemy team has no armour, so you don't need BC, and no CC, so you don't need Sterak's, and no sustain, so you don't need Chempunk, and no damage, so you don't need Spirit Visage or an armour item, you should probably still just buy Overlord's (or DD if you're going Eclipse > Sundered).

Shojin > Cyclosword just feels way better than any other build path i swear, i tried various build paths and none feels as good as that build, you have enough CC with Cyclosword passive and you also have a ton of damage by both items, you have decent sustainability bc of Shojin's hp and you also have a ton of haste, the best part about it is that you can complement it with Sundered sky, Steraks or Seryldas as the third item in different situations.

Aatrox has been top 5 best toplaners for so long, he is by definition overpowered. Besides, Aatrox skillshots are not hard to hit at all. Aatrox literally has a repositioning tool to hit them. If Aatrox skillshots being slow were a problem, he would not be viable in proplay and elite elo. Bad/slow skillshots are the primary reason for why some champions are non functional in elite MMR/ pro play. Examples are: Morgana, Swain, Illaoi, etc
