In Malayalam the budges are just fractions that of Bollywood, the acting fees of Bollywood stars are 2x to 3x that of the whole movie budget in Malayalam so the technicians specially cinematographers dont have luxury to work with big artificial lights or huge studio setup, they are trained from the grassroots to use natural lighting to their advantage which gives a huge understanding about Lens, Light sources, Bokeh etc. Trivia : Mr. Santosh Sivan who is from Malayalam film industry is the top cinematographer in India across all Industries including Bollywood at present, He was the first Indian cinematographer to be invited to join the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers (ASC). Since you spoke a lot about quality, you would be surprised to know that the Malayalam film industry is among those with the least amount of production budgets among other Indian film industries. But they also have a very critical, art-loving audience. Thereby, the history of filmmaking in Kerala involved equal significance to behind-the-scenes works as much as that of the actors. To begin with movies with good scripts. And then talented crew members who can make the best out of the low budget. In my opinion though, that is what made this industry unique. A higher budget would have given them more options but also reduced the need for active testing of artistic talent that can be pruned when put in scenarios that require creative solutions to stick within that budget.

why this movie looks so good? thats bcoz its a malayalam movie. making in malayalam is of whole another level. try watching thallumala. writing and conceptualizing were already in a higher league always, malayalam made drishyam, the first indian movie to be remade in most other languages including hindi, tamil, telugu, kannada, chinese, korean and now english in works. malayalam is a small industry at the southern most part of india, kerala, our population is small and hence our budget and collection is accordingly small, so havent got much lime light up untill ott era, most bollywood hits like bhoolbhulaiya, hera pheri, drishyam are all malayalam movie remakes. Now more audience has learned to watch and appreciate the original.

It looks good because it comes from Kerala, the King of Movies from India. There are many movie industries in India namely Bollywood which makes remakes of other movies, then there are regional movies which produce original content. Some industry produces mass commercial movies like Tamil, Telugu and Kannada language. And then there is a small industry in Kerala named Malayalam movie Industry know as Mollywood. It produced the best content in the limited budget with best cinematography, action, storytelling and all other technical aspects of the movie. In a the reaction video channels, their favorite movie industry from India is undoubtedly from Mollywood which has Hollywood level movies and some even surpasses Hollywood.
