Ab ke Saawan has a great sentimental value for 90s kids.. Its THE Rain song for us. Also, Shubha Mudgal, a classical veteran, doing a quasi-rock song about rains totally knocked our boots off!!! Not to mention the amazing video by Pradeep Sarkar, who made films like Parineeta and Mardaani.

It was even surprising for us when the song came out because the singer Shubha Muggal is a renowned Classical singer so we never expected her to sing such a peppy high tempo song.... 90s pop songs were a rage. It's heartbreaking to see the kind of songs produced these days.

Oh I am so happy you reacted to this! SHubha Mudgal is a very very accomplished and respected classical singer. She has also sang some more songs, some melancholy and sad too. I love her "Man ke Manjeere" and "Jheel" from her album "Man ke Manjeere". "Man ke Manjeere" is another powerful song. She has also sung a very powerful rendition of Vande Mataram, you should really listen to that. You should also listen to some of her pure classical, she is magic.

In a tropical country like India, after scorching deadly summers; monsoon is the most awaited things by common people, farmers, etc. (since we are naturally agrarian country, monsoon has deep meaning to us, for crop production due to which we have many harvest festivals as well). So its a sigh of peace, relief and tranquility, especially the divine smell of soil from the first rain of monsoon is just 😍😌. Thus the importance of rain in our lives.

This was such a break from the norm for a monsoon song and for Shubha Mudgal too, cause she broke the mould of a classical singer and successfully made entry into indie pop / rock genre! A rare feat for a classical based singer! Glad you enjoyed it!

Its sad to see that literally no one mentioned the music composer who composed this brilliant album. Shantanu Moitra is a heavily heavily underrated music composer with one of the best songs in existence. Parineeta, 3 Idiots and PK are some of his famous albums but people rarely know about him.

in 90s Indi Pop killed Bollywood but after Bollywood realize what new young generation wants and applied that in movies songs and killed pop era.... we enjoyed lot Indi pop eara...Channel V and M tv was whole day on in summer vactions almost in all homes (9 am papa going office... 9.05 tv on and 7 pm papa back to home and channel change to News channel...
