Hi do any of your videos cover how to subtract a small number from an enormously large number ( with lots of zeroes in the end ), and how to formulate an approach to it in your mind ? I am learning how to add and subtract decimals ( or subtract from a large number ), and seem to hit a wall always at a certain point // Meaning : I can easily calculate it in my mind based on my previous learning, but i want to do it right on the Soroban to expand my way of counting/be more efficient in the world. ( i don't want to jump over the steps of how to do it right * I am going to watch all your videos and google on this too ) Thanks again & Stay Blessed

You need to finish all the common rules to know how to do addition and subtraction problems. When you are good at abacus then can try mental which is doing problems with beads in your mind.

I am super confused bc my son’s abacus math teacher said the first column on the bottom is ones, second column tens, third column hundreds. Yet this video shows the ones in a further column.

You may set your column by yourself as long as you can operate the beads smoothly.

Hi there, as I was practicing the numbers on my Abacus, I came across on worksheet 5 - number 20 and 34. Number 20 gave (16+53-28) And Number 34 was (88-35+24-16) For some reason I couldn’t figure out how to do it in the Abacus and I was getting the answers wrong.
@MissAbacus

These two problems are a little bit challenge for this lesson. You will be able to solve these two problems when you finish all the common rules.
