Abandoned 1400s Franciscan Monastery / Urbex Lost Places Italy

Franciscan Monks first built this place in the 15th century, later in the 17th century the place was enlarged. The Church was remodeled in the 18th century. Not sure when it was abandoned but it has to be quite a while.

I wish someone would protect the statue of Mary better if she is a 15th C treasure. Seems so crazy to just leave her to get covered in dust or worse damaged by someone. Amazing monastery.

You're the only urbex youtuber who goes places that are interesting. That place is in some state of preservation if all that scaffolding is in place... though it looks like its been left there a long time... that statue of Mary should be preserved if its truly 15th century, and by a contemporary of Michelangelo... I can't believe its rotting in there waiting for vandals to fuck it up.

The inscription can be interpreted as "Alas! The most precious [thing] of all ages is found in this age to be vile." In reference to prayer or the life of contemplation... the nostalgia!

Well, in the last years the town has spent quite a bit of money to save it from collapse, that's why there's the scaffolding in the church, and I think they patched the roof as well, so it seems to be good for now.

Very dark spooky place with organ music, bats, funeral wagon and headless statue. I love it. I like videos from I call Phantom of Urbex (The Dark Pirate Stories), but yours, i don´t have a word.

Why am i holding my breath while watching? A huge huge place that's empty / abandoned is creepy. I couldn't go alone or in a group. **nice find though. Thank you for sharing to us. :)

Even though I'm always blown away by buildings that have endured the test of time over centuries, like this monastery, it was occupied during the dark ages and I get a sense of foreboding and oppression watching this. 😢 the beautiful, ( I believe to be) sculpture of the virgin Mary, is an exquisite symbolic expression of divine love for the goddess in all women.

Why is over 50% of the video completely blacked out? No lighting?

I don't know I watched it on my PC and my phone and while it is a bit dark it is not too bad, what device are you watching this on? On the other hand we couldn't much light, because the place is close to a busy road and buildings and since it was getting dark out, people would have been able to see the light in the windows, which we tried to avoid.
