🇨🇦my mom used to recite this poem. I thought it was the house on the road to suffering. Anyway the show puts me in mind of it. Thank you for this story. The House with Nobody In It by Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918) Whenever I walk to Suffern along the Erie track I go by a poor old farmhouse with its shingles broken and black. I suppose I’ve passed it a hundred times, but I always stop for a minute And look at the house, the tragic house, the house with nobody in it. I never have seen a haunted house, but I hear there are such things; That they hold the talk of spirits, their mirth and sorrowings. I know this house isn’t haunted, and I wish it were, I do; For it wouldn’t be so lonely if it had a ghost or two. This house on the road to Suffern needs a dozen panes of glass, And somebody ought to weed the walk and take a scythe to the grass. It needs new paint and shingles, and the vines should be trimmed and tied; But what it needs the most of all is some people living inside. If I had a lot of money and all my debts were paid I’d put a gang of men to work with brush and saw and spade. I’d buy that place and fix it up the way it used to be And I’d find some people who wanted a home and give it to them free. Now, a new house standing empty, with staring window and door, Looks idle, perhaps, and foolish, like a hat on its block in the store. But there’s nothing mournful about it; it cannot be sad and lone For the lack of something within it that it has never known. But a house that has done what a house should do, a house that has sheltered life, That has put its loving wooden arms around a man and his wife, A house that has echoed a baby’s laugh and held up his stumbling feet, Is the saddest sight, when it’s left alone, that ever your eyes could meet. So whenever I go to Suffern along the Erie track I never go by the empty house without stopping and looking back, Yet it hurts me to look at the crumbling roof and the shutters fallen apart, For I can’t help thinking the poor old house is a house with a broken heart.

The female voice definitely said, "I disagree." I have always been skeptical about EVPs (because, come on, people tend to hear, or not hear, what they want, and there are usually multiple interpretations about what was supposedly said), but that is probably the clearest EVP I've ever heard. In fact, it immediately reminded me of the time the disembodied voice of a young girl whispered in my ear when I was houseshopping with a real estate agent. It was obvious when we walked in because lights all over the house were flickering, and the front door was moving back and forth "on its own." I'll never forget what the girl said. "You wouldn't like it here." NOT the stereotypical, "GET OUT!" Just, "You wouldn't like it here." The air was electric in that place. The whole time, the real estate lady just stood by that door that never stopped moving, her eyes wide in fear and amazement. Finally, she said, "Well, I guess this isn't the house." So we left, but I warned her when we set out that afternoon that I am "a sensitive," and, "If there's anything in any of these houses, I'll know it." And I'm pretty sure 'they' saw me coming too, because at first, the front door wouldn't even open, despite the fact that we had the correct key. Later, over the phone, I asked the real estate lady if that kind of thing had ever happened in all the years she'd been showing houses. She said, "Never." No one has to believe me, but that's what happened. God's truth.

I grew up in western Morris County (NJ). Our church sat on 40 acres, most of which was being leased to a local dairy farmer. Across the road, way back behind the pasture, there was an abandoned house that was smaller than the one in this video, but in about the same condition. In recent years I learned that it was our church's original parsonage, from before the newer one was built in the 1870s or 1880s. The newer one was never abandoned. The older one must be down to nothing by now. Anyway, it's awesome the rising sun was still there. It would have been interesting to send your drone up those stairs, if it can be controlled that precisely. I loved that church and cemetery afterward. I'll see if I can look it up on the website, Historic Rural Churches of Georgia.

In anyone's honest opinion, what contributed to the house's current condition? Weather? Tornadoes? Ice storms? The walls are pretty impressive - strong. Maybe not the strength but the structure. It's old and worn (like me! ha!) but still has a lot of substance and historical significance. Now the church! The cemetery! Beautifully kept up.💕 Thank you for sharing! The House Of The Rising Sun motif is still a beauty! What a gorgeous piece of history!💛

Water is the enemy, it destroys everything. Once the roof goes it’s all over.

I can’t believe they haven’t responded yet about that clear as day voice on the stairs. Even if it was just one of the guys it’s too big of a deal to ignore! We need to know

Better taking the pupper in the store in the backpack than letting them walk around. Great video as always. Travel safe and stay safe. Peace ✌️

I’ve visited this house before and it was absolutely beautiful! I found it on my way to Talbotton in 2018 and stopped and took several pictures of it, it’s a shame KZbin won’t let me attach a picture to this comment. I passed by it again a few months ago, and was extremely saddened to see how much it had deteriorated. So sad to see such a historical landmark falling into ruin. Would love to see the rising Sun. Pediment saved!

23:04 clearest evp ever " I disagree" it's inevitable to catch some even tho you aren't a paranormal channel... wonder why she disagrees. But don't ever put yourself in danger... enjoying your channel. At 23:12 she talks more under your voices.

That is awesome y'all found the namesake of the house. Try to save it. It's such a sad fate for the house. I'm glad the Old Byrd Farm didn't succumb to that. That's crazy the other chimney is standing. Dan, Robert is 1/2 of "2 idiots in a ditch." LOL

I could see a place for that rising sun somewhere on the Old Byrd farm! Get permission, restore it and give credit to whom it belongs.

I’m amazed at the machining of the wood. Tongue and grooved siding, rosettes, doors and crown moulding to name a few.
