A trick I learned from an old guy when I was a young guy: Old engines often had stretched timing chains so the lights often didn't jive timing marks. He would fill a glass with water then set it on the fender. He would adjust the distributor so the water in the glass would develop concentric circles from the center. That meant the engine harmonics were balanced.

This is why modern two-stage paint systems suck. You can't do that to a clear coat when it inevitably goes away. I think clear coat was invented by the paint industry to sell more paint.

The fuel pump vacuum attachment is for vacuum windshield wipers and the choke should have a hard line going to the exhaust manifold. There is usually a hole in the exhaust manifold that you push the hard line into it if it has one.

Puddin' those fuel pumps usually go between manifold vacuum and the wiper motor. It can really go between manifold vacuum and anything that needs a good healthy source of vacuum. This was a parts store option to help vacuum options continue to work on tired old motors that didn't have any vacuum left. I had one on my 51 flathead with a giant cam and it definitely helped.

That is one good looking truck, mate. Her blue and white paint job really works well and the white wheels and white walls just set her off. All that work - it's got to make you feel good moving her around under her own steam (and stopping!) when she was in such a state when she first rolled off the trailer. Yeah - finding parts for the old beasts (especially something like the original) isn't as easy as it was 20 years ago, but they will be out there.....although it stands to reason why people have thrown brakes, spindles, rear ends etc off later model vehicles into them just to keep them on the road. Like you, I'd drive the tyres off of the beast just as she is. A vehicle like that - and especially being so original - she needs to be out and about and seen for the gem she is. Great work, mate. Hope you find the parts you need to finish her soon. All the best.

When doing the timing with a vacuum advance u should disconnect the vacuum line in your case the hard line when turning the distributor the vacuum advance can throw off your initial timing so you're supposed to adjust it with it disconnected anyways so it would be much easier to spend the distributor with the disconnected like you should anyways
