My man T Bone working the drill, too cool. I follow Nicks Garage, he`s a Mopar nut and a 440 genius, he dyno tested a 440 with stock manifolds and then with headers, I believe it was 5 to 7 hp more with headers vs stock ex manifolds, he hates headers because of clearence issues of course, headers dont do what most people thing, they don`t add 25 hp like advertized, my 383 had headers and that starter would get so hot, let alone changing plugs and keeping the wires off em, they were nothing but a pain in the you know what. Hey nice clean cillinder bores, that still have the hash marks, you did well this time, it`s all about the heads and cam in these stock Mopars, and who doesn`t love the sound of a cammed 440. I don`t know what you are going with, but i`m sure you know Edelbrock has kits were they did all the homework on, you just bolt it on pretty much, cam, heads, intake and your done, can`t wait to see the build, love T Bone working that drill.

Just a tip, when you're removing the cylinder heads, I always leave one head bolt slightly threaded in, that way the head can't accidentally fall off while you're using the persuader. Big hunks of falling cast iron tend to crush feet

its me again the lonely mopar fellow from ny, make sure you try and match that torqer intake, camshaft and torge convertor, gears, preferably 3.91,4.10 or a 4.56 . match your tire size also. those pistons are aproximately 0.150" from the deck about 7.81 comp. not good but it will do. one more word of advice is try to order a "cometic mls head gaskets. it looks like they were permatorqe head gaskets with a crushed thickness of about 0.034". check and see if it has the heavier connecting rods. i would not recommend nitrous oxide. if you do use it be carefull the ringlands like to break. i would run a 800 or a 950 holley brawler. those pistons are also heavy the motorhome pistons have a thicker top to them to keep from detonating. those heads should be number #452 castings. they should in reality be checked for ccs. they run anywere from 86-90+ccs. again for detonation reasons. try to run a good type of holley electric feul pump. believe me you dont need 2 four barrel carbs to run in the 11 second 1/4 mile. i dont remember if i told you this one but i had a school freind who believe it or not had a low mileage 413 put in a 1964 dodge dart staion wagon. it had pistons that were 0.186" from the deck and 906 heads from a 383 ccd to 82 ccs m1 mopar single plane intake 509 mopar performance cam cloyes single bolt double row timing chain,windage tray,rocker ars were standard stamped steel and shimmed side to side rocker end play,9 quart milodon pan melling oil pump not high volume, a stock pump with the "black pump spring installed , a holley blue electric racing pump,electric fan, big 3 core aluminum radiator and 950 ultra holley double pumper carb he had about 600.00 into the engine, had 175 shot of nitrous oxide, and last but not least 727,with 5500 stall convertor,deep pan trans brake and manual valvebody. i think this little monster weighed about 2900 or so lbs when finished. it ran 6000 rpm max wich is max for those stock 413,440s 11.27 at 118 mph. that little s.o.b. ran and ran it did street racing some fat guy who had a 1957 chevy belair blue with flames on side a noisier than hell 496 with i think my freind said the guy had aprox 23000 dollars in the engine. my freind ran this jerk took him out of the hole had him i fogot how many feet,mind you my freind was street racing it was about 15 years ago. the guy he ran was imbaressed and of course asked him what the hell you got under that hood, my freind replied and said just a low mileage 413 from a motorhome. that guy still has that car and i bet he still all these years wont admit he got his fat ass beat by a motorhome engine. thought i tell about that story. i wasnt at that carazy race but my freind had to tell me the next day. the guy with that 496 was a big mouth and waswas somewhat shut down but sometimes you cant shut up a jerk whith those brand x engines. thats the truth. you cant shut up a older idiot who has a ego problem. chrysler kicked ass on the streets due to the small block type ports,father steeve brule on engine masters joked about it. look for steve duchics mopar stuff he is one hell of a mopar guy him and steve brule on the engine masters shows.good luck with that wolf in sheeps clothingit looks nice and clean and ill bet its one of those 50000 mile time capsules remember match those parts. ill be looking on youre assembly.take care. my saying and an old on mopar or no car.

Ya the old motor home 440s were about a true 7.5 to 8.1 comp with open chamber and 165 down in the hole🤦🏻♂️ get a piston with some decent deck height 2355F forged speed pros are cheap 400 bucks comp height 2.061 with stock deck height be about 20 tho below deck with a closed chamber 75cc or 84 cc head will make good comp also work with stock pressed pin rod size.
@itsnotadodgerog205010 ай бұрын
.165 in the hole leaves you with stock gasket about a 8.2:1 Compression Ratio. I know, I have the close to the same distance with .163. New pistons will make a tremendous increase in output. Keep up the content, love watching T-Bone at work. Making memories! @@rustbucketrestos6511

If you are changing out the rod bearings anyway you are just a couple steps away from replacing the pistons to increase the compression ratio, but to be honest I really want to see how this turns out with the stock motor home setup. I am not as optimistic as you are but I would love to see this thing tearing down the strip and be proven wrong. I have a 1996 E-350 Motor home with the Ford 460, that thing was built for torque plain and simple and not a lot of get up and go.

I thought it was going to have dished pistons, too. And the gaskets on it would be steel if they were factory, not composite. I thought he timing chain looked like it had been replaced, too. When you say it was from a motor home, was it from a Class A (boxy front end) or Class B (Van front clip)?

Im from the old way of doing a seal job on any block. Ford, Gm, or Mopar. The rings shouldnt be left in there. A newer style of rings will net you so much more. Overall, its not worth any hp or torque gains. But the ablility to capture the compression in the chamber will get a more thorough burn in the cylinder. Fuel economy equates to proper burn. Any 440, is a gas pig anyway. The low compression big blocks made in the 70's, with the emissions and mileage being pre decent power. So any improvement in consumption, will be a huge plus. Injection is the easy way to capitlize on better fuel mileage. Even a throttle body set up is a huge improvement.
@auteurfiddler870610 ай бұрын
I never can remember this. Which are the rings that are the most idiot proof and you can just throw on an engine like his without even a dingle ball job and get improved sealing?
