Woolmanhill hospital was gradually closed over a number of years as more modern facilities in either Foresterhill or Woodend hospitals opened.I remember attending an appointment at the E.N.T Clinic in 2016 when it was the only department still operational.

Back in the nineties someone noticed a bad smell so went to investigate and found the electric had gone off on a disused floor of the building, it turned out there were freezers full of body parts in storage that had been forgotten about and they had all defrosted!

Most of it was closed long before 2017, that's when the last clinic closed. There's squatters living in parts of it now. There's supposed to be a tunnel connecting it to city hospital.

I work security for this place every time someone sets off the alarm I need to respond. It's very annoying, it happens almost every day. But to be fair if I grow up in this city I'd definitely explore this place as a kid.

@Eryk Wiszniewski Ya It's been very busy mate but I've been on holiday 😊 just make sure your guys are wearing respirators or a dam good mask if you are determined to enter the buildings. the asbestos and black mould and bird poo in those building will seriously mess up your lungs!! Asbestos is deadly! I don't enter the building with out a good respirator, and wash your hand the bird poo is not good for your help. Please be safe! And watch out for the floor in the Simpsons pavilion it's not safe to walk on parts of it. It you feel it move under your feet. Nothing wrong with having a look I suppose but this building is not safe with out the correct PPE
@WideWorldOfUrbex2 жыл бұрын
I agree there is asbestos everywhere which is why it’s abandoned I guess is any of the other blocks in use or is it all still abandoned I have not been since 2020

@@WideWorldOfUrbex It's all empty apart from the pigeons. The roof tiles are made of asbestos and the kids love to destroy them, And then walk over them kicking up the asbestos dust. They obviously don't realise the danger of breathing in asbestos, it never leaves you lungs. I'm horrified to think what that will do to their body in 10 year, it can and will mess you up! Poor kids don't realise. the black mold and pigeon dropping aren't exactly good for you either, That's how you get bird flu lol Our risk assessment explained The test that where carried out on the air quality from this from of black mould all over the place. and most importantly the asbestos, danger it's a dangerous place. But if I was a kid growing up in Aberdeen, I'd totally have a look lol
@WideWorldOfUrbex2 жыл бұрын
Same most kids love it and all the floor tiles are made of asbestos too they all were back in them days and the dust is a killer and yeah pigeon poo I awful too I don’t know much about mould tbh but do any of the other buildings have hospital beds in or were they all removed when it closed
@aberdeenresponse79522 жыл бұрын
@@WideWorldOfUrbex I don't remember any hospital bed. It's mostly empty, there are two chest freezer with yellow tape marked "Warning infection bacteria" I obvious avoid them. And there is a device for developing old x-ray paper but I'm informed it radioactive so I also avoid that room. I haven't explored everything, in the Simpsons pavilion the floor is falling apart from water damage. I'd describe it as squidgy in some parts. So I haven't explored all of that building. The police also don't like going in that building. It's mostly empty apart from random things they didn't bother clear out. The new owner did decide to store some horrible looking chairs in the entrance to one of the building.

I cleaned Woolmanhill hospital for 10 years the door at 1 minute in led to the death files, now that was a spooky building the lights flickered on and off, there was whistling sounds because the windows were broken and the lights used to swing back and forth on a windy day.

Looks like the exam chairs used when they were doing endoscopes of your ear, nose and throat. Used to have to sit in those when they were examining my sinuses. There was the main reception in the ground floor, then separate receptions for each department.
