Even if they had addressed the problems with this place much sooner, i still doubt it would've lasted because the building is located outside the main centre of Derby where people would do yheir shopping and choose to eat out there rather than have to walk 10 minutes to reach this place which was already looking like a retirement home rather than a restaurant so given the vast variety of options for other restaurant's I'm really not surprised this place failed so miserably. Having no money to renovate the place and drag it into the 2000s didn't help them either.

Was launched before i was an apprentice in Scott's shipyard Greenock,it's sister Fort Austin was being launched anf fitted out in drydock when i started in late 1978.

Shame my grandads not alive! He knew all these places as he was a specialist weaver so would have possibly supplied or distributed his weft goods. His business still lives on through my uncle in halifax booth town :)

I used to work there in the kitchen years ago. Can't believe what's happen to it, and I didn't leave the kitchen in that state. Staff room was on the 3rd floor.

Saw only a fraction. Forward rope locker. Big yellow and black door was main machinery access door. Tiller flat with the big rudder post and the fridge/STP flat below. The restricted bit was the comms room, mainly due to encrypted kit they used. Missed the H block where the engineers/STON and embarked lived. Spent a year on her sister as embarked.

Great video enjoyed it,that place had been a pet shop for donkeys years. I remember it being a popular place when Dewsbury was a thriving town.We used to visit regularly in the late 90,s they sold cats(£40),dogs,rabbits etc kids would be pushed up against the window looking at the pets in the cages it was a busy place back then I didn,t realise it lasted so long.

They just boarded it up again I’m in Canada but from Dewsbury the mural is in what was the children’s part. Used to go with Dad in the 60s what a shame it was a lovely building in its day. It has been used as a wedding venue so maybe that were all the kegs came from.
