Nowadays I avoid interstates if at all possible as they've become so dangerous (especially when you go thru the big cities) If it's not bad drivers then it's road rage. The old two lanes are scenic and safer while the interstates are boring with the same old scenery, packs of semi-trucks and billboards advertising for chain establishments that we never patronize (we prefer small business or mom & pops which are still out there)

I’ve often wondered what highway came down Echo Canyon, and how 191 figured in. If I understand, 30S came down Echo Canyon and 30N went on toward Kemmerer Wy. and on to Pocatello Id. US 40 must have gone over Parley’s Summit, not combined with US 30. I wish I had my Dad’s old road atlas from before the Interstate system wiped out a lot of these old highways so I could compare the routings. Thanks for sharing this information with an “old traveler”

@@johnbeck3270 You’re correct about US 40. I’m actually working on a couple more US 40 videos right now: I shot video on the old roadbed at the mouth of Parleys Canyon and over by SLC airport. I’m still working on the editing.

@ Kemmerer is the home of the original JC Penney store. It’s still open.

@@niiicedave2 I have a few true “on the map” topics in my ideas file. I loved that series; and he did it in a style like Paul Harvey’s “Rest of the Story” broadcasts
