Awesome video as always Wallie and sad this place failed. Especially it had a cigar bar, and I LOVE cigars and it's hard to find a place to do dinner and cigars in one setting.. Have a nice dinner and for desert walk a few steps, sit in a leather chair and smoke a Romeo and Julietta with a nice drink. Would be more painful if the place closed right before Christmas with all the decorations never put up. You have a good philosophy: if you are unsure about something don't do it. LIke try the doors of a place awash with cameras. Or as I call it trust your GUT! You don't have one like me, but my gut has rarely been wrong. If they can put up the right signage and put in a great restaurant sports bar microbrewery with the cigar bar maybe the fifth incarnation could last. Keep those awesome videos coming bud!

Pretty cool find. I have to admit, it's a rare thing to have an indoor smoking eating establishment anymore. The last of those went the way of the dinosaur back in the mid 2000s when the Utah clean air act passed. Man I remember the days of being asked in the restaurants, smoking or non smoking!

This place was originally built as the Yorkshire inn...the original was on the small golf course behind the Blue Flame Restaurant on 51 in Jefferson...was lost do to fire....had great food back then....remember their excellent prime rib 1980's.....my oldest sister had a small wedding....was held in one of the banquet rooms here
@johnhull63636 жыл бұрын
There is a news article online about the 1980 easter Sunday fire at the original location

That place was originally Damon's. Closed 2012ish. In 2013, so jagoff who vacations on the gulf shore pressured his favorite Alabama chain to grant a Franchise license for Wintsells. I worked there for a day. What an awful idea

Oh look, working through the unposted backlog? Because I can personally guarantee there's no snow on the ground in Pittsburgh lol. Not in June. Especially not based on the way my mom was complaining on FB earlier this week about the heat.

A comment on why power might be on in some buildings.....My boyfriend was a realtor who sold commercial property. It was often left on to possibly make it easier to sell, if it was up for sale. Potential buyers want to see if things work, even the power :) It does not explain the buildings abandoned for a very long time with no chance of selling. But it does possibly explain why some have it on.

I remember Damon's. It was pretty good.
@activebaby64963 жыл бұрын
Damon's biggest issue. It's busiest day of the week Football game days. You would pack the restaurant. Then people would sit for 3 hours and some would drink some wouldn't. You would staff your entire kitchen and service staff after the 1st hour they would stand around..
@johnhull63636 жыл бұрын
As far as the building location goes....good food sells itself...the Yorkshire being in there provided funding for the Georgetown Centre next door....

New fan here!! Cool stuff man. Yeah, that place was horrible. Like nobody even cared if they were open or closed. Prob the worst dining experience I've had. Lol So I wasn't shocked that they closed quickly. I remember looking at my watch and wondering if they'd still be in business by the end of my meal. Hope someone opens something t herr that sticks. Anyway, keep up the good work. Peace! Bill

I think any restaurant will survive if you offer a good price GOOD food and good service. Word of mouth about a place that has those qualities doesn't need to be on the main drag to do well. And by the way Wallie thanks for visiting the Kmart on 51 I've been working at that location for about 14yrs and with the company for 39 trying to make it to 40! Keep it open Eddie!!!

Hoss's failed. Damon's failed. Wintsells failed. Should've demolished the place after Wintsells shut down - that was STRIKE THREE for the place! But no - they brought in Bruceton Grille, and it went down after one year. Give that place to the Dodge dealership and let them use it for parts and vehicle inventory storage! Sheesh, they need to stop throwing $$$ away on restaurants that won't last very long!

I was here yesterday. Still abandoned although plants have taken root in the cement. I was able to activate the ceeling fans in the outdoor dining area, so that was quite fun (I immagine if the Fanimation people find the video they'll like it). The lights outside the resturaunt are still on.
