Our first round baler was the later model of that one. Ours was a 2400. We bought it new in 82-83 when I was around 14 years old, and if I remember correctly it was 6200 dollars. Ours made pretty decent bales for smooth belts. Although it could be tricky starting the bale. Rolled up many a bales with that old girl. We baled thousands of prairie hay and hay grazer bales with it. On that Case , Having both the batteries and the PTO inside the cab with ya could be problematic if there was issues with either. Lol great content!

Neat to see the different types of tractors the way they are optioned versus here in NY. Have never seen any like that around here. Strangest one I have heard of from a friend is an IH 706 Wheatland 4-wheel drive. Still has the badges on it for the All-Wheel Drive. He's been trying to buy it for years. The 282 has to be rebuilt, but he is more than capable for that. Hopefully one of these days soon we can go see the guy again.

Our first "big" tractor was a 930, probably in about 63-64. We got that when neighbors got 4020's and 806's. We had an M&W turbocharger put on it a few years later-gave it lots of power but revealed totally inadequate cooling. Traded it for a 1030 that actually seemed to do the work it was advertised to do. First Case was a 400 diesel, I still have that one. Not many of those left in WC Indiana, but lots of 4020's.

Massey 50's were good tractors. Owner of repair shop I worked at through college had a Massey Harris 50. Bought it new at auction when the dealer went out of business. Something about knocking up his high school age secretary 😮. My FFA teacher had a very nice Ferguson 40 on narrow rears. Only one I've seen local. Your Case tractor looks like a Case 900. Not a Case 930. My Case 930 had the diesel fuel tank on the back of the tractor behind the cab. Last year a good running Case 900 diesel came up for sale in our area with the hand clutch for $600. It still took a long time to sell, because I don't think it had much for options on the back end and was just used to pull a trailer for hauling rocks out of the field.

I was already in my sixties before understanding our need for a farmer or cattle rancher. I worked on this old junk in washington state before moving to alaska in 84. I worked on and off after nineteen seventy but who really knows what they want to be. Heck, I wanted to be a cowboy and ride horses as I did work for a man who used pack horses for the forest service. That was in 57, 8, and nine. I cried when Kennedy was assassinated.. seen many things no one would believe. My dad had me handing him wrenches before I was old enough to argue. It is just how it was. I found out I was a fair hand at diesel engines, and any other stuff mechanical. I got good at fab work... worked with some of the very best during this time period. Stories galore yet not willing to talk or tell them, even I don't believe them and I saw stuff that happened. Acetone and transmission fluid seems to find its way past any stuck cylinders... no harm and no foul to the engine... decided to sub to your channel but I am more into starting, repairing, and machine work... no problem as I am just a bored older person
