The SID’s and maintenance costs have caused many aircraft to be grounded. The 400 series cessna are heavily hit😢 I have a 402 and 401. Hellishly expensive to keep airworthy.

Sad how that happens. Poor airplanes.

When I see this I always wonder what happened. Perhaps the owner passed away.

When a car is left unattended inside of a parking lot the parking lot owner initiates legal proceedings in order to become legal owners of said vehicle. I’m pretty sure the FBO or airport owner can do the same thing but it is a time consuming process

has anyone bought the plane?

The pane vanished one day and I don't know where it went.

It's registered to Quest Steel Inc. Last annual was in 2009. I guess it's on the books in the corporate file cabinet, forgotten. Nothing on why it was left there. Might be a steal for a potential buyer. C421 is a great plane. Only real headache is the fuel system with the tip tanks. It has a funky fuel system management (tip tanks are the "main" tanks for example). Gear drive props need more TLC then standard constant speed type. Still.. maybe they want to get it off the books fast.

It's worth what it's worth in parts and scrap. The amount of money it would take to get this airplane back in airworthy condition, let alone good condition, would be insane. Not only has it been sitting for 15 years, but it's been sitting outside. If the engines were never pickled before the airplane started sitting, then theyre paperweights. That alone is going to cost $140,000. Not to mention all of the airframe work it will need, hoses, hydraulic system, pitot static, etc. Bringing it back to where it once was is probably going to cost close to $250,000. For the amount of money it would take to make this one what it should be, you could go by a no-frills 421C.

Do you know the last time this old bird went flying? Like you said it has been sitting for 10 years. Makes you wonder who is paying the ramp fee. Poor thing. Nice video !!
@peterp6969 жыл бұрын
ryadaw3 No real concept how long it has been but it has been long. I'm thinking no one is paying any ramp fees/parking fees. My best guess it's a loss for the owner and the airport combined.

Brampton?

Yes, it's Brampton Airport.

Pete, is this common?
@peterp6969 жыл бұрын
Severin Dela Afari Unfortunately yes. There are always abundant or unattended airplanes at every airport.
@warriorchild9 жыл бұрын
That's a shame. So what if someone wants to buy them? Are they given off on discounts by the airport authority?
@peterp6969 жыл бұрын
I don't know what they do with then eventually, Severin Dela Afari. An airplane that's been sitting for such a long time becomes not recoverable for airworthiness. The cost to rebuild will exceed the value. I yet to see one of those airplanes be more then salvage for some parts, unless they are a real rare classic and then the rebuild cost is irrelevant.
@warriorchild9 жыл бұрын
Interesting,its really unfortunate to see those planes go to waste.

Maybe few of them can be saved by a young AME trying to get experience and prove his skills... eh?
