Love these old mom and pop stores, thank you for sharing.

Something Kayla didn't say is that the store use to be owned by Clint and Virginia Petrie. Virginia was the post mistress for 30 years and ran the post office out of the store. Clint delivered mail. They were the ones who built the post office behind the store. Virginia showed me pictures one time when they were celebrating the anniversary of Dennis. I think she said they sold the store a number of years ago.

When I was a kid there were dozens of stores like this in my town. One on every corner and the owners made a living from them.

I remember several places like this down South. All gone today. At least the old Cigarette dispenser is still there. A lot is gone today, but their greatest asset was their People. Yes, those sort of places had two old Gasboy pumps. Thanks for doing these videos.

Cool video guys, I drive by this store almost every day...love the area and living here. About 1000 feet north up 1189 there is an old stone building on the east side of the road, it looks really old and abandoned. Was wondering if Kayla may know what that building originally was?

Such a shame, a nice little place like that, left to fall apart. I'd bet the donuts were exceptional. Makes me think of this place up here in NY, another little family run place, that serves SUPER good apple cider donuts. If you're ever up in the Capital or Mid-Hudson region, by any chance in the future, you've gotta check them out. Golden Harvest Farms in Valatie (Columbia County). They have fruit, vegetables, grow their own apples, bake their own cider donuts and other pastries, as well as pies, as well as making their own cider...and they even have their own distillery around the back, Harvest Spirits. The place is absolutely exceptional, and I highly recommend it to anyone who ever happens across it. Anyway, it's also awesome to hear Kayla's childhood memories from places like this, makes this channel and it's videos that much more enjoyable to watch.

This place reminds me of a place called "Sweet Home Store and Kitchen" in Sweet Home TX (tiny town near Shiner, population ~350). It was a lot like this one in that it was a little convenience store, but it was also a restaurant. When I was in elementary and middle school my family would go there a lot and I remember having their nachos every time. We never went there again after 2014 because its food went down the drain, though, and in 2016 the place closed and was replaced with "Tastey's Bar and Grill", a much better restaurant with decent service and a better menu (according to reviews anyway). I've never been to it since it reopened as that, though, so I would like to go back there someday and try it out.

I use to have two coworkers, ones name was Dennis the other was Dallas. I always got their names confused, one day I called for I believe it was Dallas and I was taking to Dennis and he correct me and said I’m Dennis. I then proceeded to say close enough, and a coworker of mine spoke up and said no it’s not have you ever heard of someone saying I’m going down to Dennis Texas? I have now!! I told you guys I was close enough hopefully this will prove it!!

I love little general gas stations. When I was younger . We had juniors. I say like 2 miles away plus. Back in the day 90's we rode are bikes from my mommys house around the county rides to the church and to junior edges store. Very basic store two pumps for gas. Inside. Old thin wood floors with "cold bottle drinks" kids now yes glass. They had a old new back then colar square tv . I would get a glass drink. Rc colar and moonpie. And then chill and ride bike home too. My mommy even rode her bike there with me as a little dude to get a drink. Gotta love the 80's and the 90's freedoms, we had and use to do and now if we do that with are kids we would go to jail or bad things would happen. Made me think of good old juniors. Junior, past away years ago, not sure of year but the store was took down and they put a house in its spot. Wallie, thank you you bring some good memories back in my head. Good times of the past things,. Sorta faught my age ,but it's the small things about life.
