Hey Wallie, as a Mooresville resident this was indeed built from the ground up as a Denny's in the early 90's. The pandemic obviously was not kind to their business and with the pending widening of NC Hwy 150 they decided to close down. That is the same reason for the closing of the service station you spoke of as well as the Bank of America branch next to the Denny's. The road widening will take all of the front parking lot of all of those buildings. Glad you got to visit my hometown!!

Yea there moveing all the utility poles down in Mooresville near the sams club but yea its going to be a nightmare when they start that project from the steam plant to 115 😮

Excellent video! Back in the 90s my roommate and I were regulars at the local Denny's. All us Gen Xers were in there, sometimes into the wee hours of the night, sipping our flavored coffee and smoking clove cigarettes in the smoking section. The Denny's we frequented has been closed for years now. The adjacent road was rebuilt and traffic bypassed it. Good times. Great memories.

The station next door was an Exxon then Valero, and Shell was demolished across from that.

bummer, I'm nearby in Concord and had been to this location many times back in the 90s. It was usually a pleasant experience and I've always loved Dennys.

I used to love going to this Denny's when I lived back in Mooresville. When I was 15 I rode my bike there at 5 in the morning before school just because I felt like it

In Virginia we had several Denny's close over the last 10 years which is odd considering the one we have in Manassas is always busy and the others we had in neighboring cities were always busy when I went in there.

You don't see too many abandoned Denny's you see a whole lot of abandoned IHOPS and Village Inn isn't even on the map anymore, the Denny's by the Chiefs stadium caught on fire and they had a crew come in , to make it vanish , but it still wasn't abandoned per say ... Stay Awesome Wallie this Summer will be Hot

All of our Denny's close in 2017 due to unpaid taxes. Many of the locations continue to sit and rot which is sad. Part of the article from the local newspaper: "after current and former owners failed to pay nearly $191,000 in sales and payroll taxes, according to the state Department of Revenue. An abrupt closure of the restaurants Monday night triggered Revenue Department officials to act quickly to seize the eateries, said Rodney Johnson, compliance director for the department's tax division. They changed locks and posted closure notices to guard against any removal of equipment or machinery that might need to be auctioned to satisfy back taxes, he said."

That does look a bit like Burger King. I wonder what the odds are that it was once a Burger King, maybe prior to 2007 or something like that... though if so, I'd bet they did a bit of renovation. But I don't know, maybe it was always a Denny's. 5:15 I notice the Taco Bell signage taken down across the street too.

Wallie B....didn't know where else to send you this info, so I'll comment here. I told you a couple weeks ago that it looked like the vintage Arby's in Kent that you visited a few months ago was going to be torn down. Well, as of Wednesday this week, it's gone. I hear a pizza shop is going to be built there. Kent already has 11 pizza shops !!!!

We got a few cookout joints in my area, but I'm curious if you like theirs or the whopper better. I'd have to say neither have anything on the burgers I make personally, but that's home cooked on charcoal grill with worstishire sauce in the meat. Everyone's tastes vary and that my opinion so not really counting that here. Just curious if you like the cookout or whopper better.

@WallieB267 ай бұрын
Exactly
@RayGates-r9x6 ай бұрын
I've lived in NC my entire life, near the Burlington area. Believe it or not, we do get some rough cold snaps at times during the winter. I've seen -4°F twice in the last 24 years, and it's not too unusual at the peak of winter to see a 36 to 48 hour stretch of temperatures never getting above freezing. Temperatures like that on any plumbing that hasn't been winterized will surely bust pipes. We had a rough winter 2 year's ago and the city of Greensboro had several watermain breaks due to the cold. NC is not Georgia or Florida....lol

I literally drive by that place every day. I really wish someone would do something with that place. But I think there finally going to work on the 150 project to widen the road from the steam plant on 150 to 115 for all the people that live near Mooresville. And yes that was a gas station in front of the waffle house. There was another gas station across the street as well its gone
