That things makin fuel !!!!! I’m so glad you got the thing moving forward it felt like I was working on it !!!!! The shifter switch has to be it . I was wondering if it got parked because it quit running or it quit going forward being out in the weather probably caused switches to corrode . I guess a double pole 3 position switch will need replaced . What happens when your going forward with the jumper wire on and you put the selector in neutral ? What would happen if you were in forward and shifter the shifter to reverse ? If both engaged at the same time while traveling it may tear a bunch of stuff up . Not been much on KZbin lately the Johnny Depp and Amber saga I clicked on that one time now it’s everywhere how glad I was to see your video and then running the 310 in forward !!! So happy how about ya !!!!

Very interesting. I have a 410-D that had the exact same issue with trying to go forward. While I take care of most all the issues that develop, I couldn't figure that one out. I had to trailer it to the shop where they did repair it. The diagnosis? They told me they had to dismantle the transmission and that a small spring was broken and that was causing the issue. I don't recall how much they charged, but it wasn't cheap as you can imagine. Now I doubt their honesty after seeing what you found. KZbin comes in handy for a lot of things and your video was enlightening to say the least. Very nice job and I'm glad you shared what you found out. Thank you!

The current tractor list on my almond ranch in California. '39 cat d47U (running), 60s international 504 (running) late 50s international utility 350 (running), early 50's Oliver oc3 crawler (running), late 70's Massey Ferguson 50 backhoe (motor locked up, and all attempts have failed so far) 80's Massey Ferguson 1020 with loader (was running until clutch went out last month). All these tractors were non running yard art when we brought them home with the exception of the ocs3 which was bought by my great grandfather new but took loads of time to get running again. That's why I love your videos. We do the same thing every weekend. Keep them coming.

Great news to hear! 😎 This turned out to be a "Will it go forward?" Video.....lol. It's possible the problem was on the steering column shift lever all along. Some people think the shift lever moves gears, but it's actually just a switch between F-N-R and I think that column shifter was bad. I'd think about putting a new shifter in it and see what happens. Just my opinion, of course. Congratulations Hank!! 👍 🚜

i have an old 1971 john deere 410b, been watching this one for awhile, Im guessing there is either a problem with the wires from the pig tail to the F-N-R switch or the swith itself, a 3 way toggle switch would work in a pinch, hope that helps

Lol! Way to go Hank! Only took you a year to figure it out! Goes to show you even a blind squirrel finds a nut along the way! Glad to see it finally getting to come around. Now as to a temporary solution for the shifting. Why not get some wiring connectors an some wire and use a three way toggle switch to go forward and backwards. Mount it on the console or the steering column for easability and run it till you get it rewired permanently. So it's workready. Then since you put in that shootout on paw in law hit him up to just keep the 310 there for farm use. Perfect suck up on the inlaws! Lol! Then later give it a good washing and scruff it up a bit and give it a shot of new paint be perfect then to put Hamiltonville Farms on its sides and do offsite jobs to make a little cash to buy more farm equipment for the place. As always enjoy your videos! Just surprised that Wiley wasn't around to see the triumphant victory for getting her moving!! 😳 Take care and looking forward to the next chapter in Hv Farms!

Did you cut the wires? Or were they pulled by a stick or something else while it was in use? I would try repairing the wires before anything else and test. See if you can find a schematic for the shift circuit and go from there first. If it has to have power on two wires you should be able to turn on the switch and shift to forward and see which wire is hot then reverse the same way to make connections. Wires should be marked with numbers about every 8-12” starting at the plug. If you can identify the wire numbers easily makes repair easier.

the fuel could be returning to the main tank which is why it drank it out of the can so quick. and for the transmission a two position switch would work for the direction change.

I think you have to connect those wires to shift selector, just rewire it then you wont have mess arround gauge cluster. Otherwise you will have extra button or selector also couple more wires which is not necessary. A multimeter and some cables will solve your problem. good catch btw, interesting thing is it has 2 feed lines on selenoid, like a regular relay, so they has 2 functions. I really liked that machine, it is really good to have in any farm. Congrats finally you solved the problem Hank. Over the decades I learned everything about computers all by my self by just jumping in feet first. If I gave up on a issue that got me stumped to the point I'll just have someone else fix it. I would not have learned how to build / fix computers to the point people comes to me to get their computers fixed. Also I know how to do electronic repair which comes in handy for dealing with computers that you believe is having hardware issues.

Now it’s time to button up the machine where the fuse box and hood are. I hope we see some videos of it doing more work!

That's awesome I love discovering things by chance that fix my problem I would think a guy that has a Land Management business would have more than one trailer and a truck big enough to haul a backhoe. The other comment is correct you have a return line that goes back into the tank and that's where all of your fuel is going it is not used

@@HamiltonvilleFarm Had a feeling there was something up with the wirign harness whem you hooked up the neutral valve to the reverse valve only and not the forward wire too, hope fully it'll get fixed up, you could hook up all 3 together in the meantime while waiting for the repair hank 😄

Check the fuel line from the tank for a fuel delivery issue. Had one that looked good on the outside but was calapsed on the inside starving the motor for fuel.

I put a new line on it today. Still didn’t pickup. So it’s got to be in the pickup tube or filter in the tank. I’ll take a look tomorrow and get it fixed.

@@HamiltonvilleFarm gotcha. Yea it Could be rust plugging the screen on the pick up in the tank. Whatever it is sounds like it's "somting wong" in the tank.

This comment is before everything. Hank fixed the problem by tieing Elvis to the steering wheel so he can steer while Hank is towing the machine around. Rofl. That's just what ran through my head. Forgive me everyone. I'm a little touched. Have to have my giggles everyday. Truth is, Hank's a miracle worker and he'll just make me look bad. Lol As always, all the best to everyone. Just found your channel and I've been binge watching haha. Awesome content! I'm a farmer from Indiana. It would take forever to list all the tractors around haha, IH 1206s to 7220 magnum etc, but have a New Holland 1720 about same size as yours that we use for similar sort of stuff. Good machine. Yours looks like a good one too. Peace man! God bless!

Excellent video Hank :) don't have big Farm tractor but some can be fun to fix also some can task to work even for most excellent mechanics too work on and big puzzles too! But I have on homestead is 2021 TROY -Built Lawn Tractor it a Single Cylinder motor 28 hp gas 436 CC also Automatic Synchomatic handle shifter with 10 speed foward and 2 reverse also 44 inches bed for lawn care! It gas model and but funny part takes 3 gallon fuel tank worth compare one had before had 5.5 Gallon too fuel and last month on Lol ! Also basic model I have takes 1 pint of Engine Oil fill crankcase up and also very comfortable seat on like big tractor have ! But on home farm when growing up was McCormick International the 1968 105C combine gas model , also small loader was 1963 B414 also Desiel fuel motor 40 hp , 1968 International 624 A was 60 hp without Torque Amplifier on Transmission, 1978 International 724 B bigger loader tractor 72 hp Desiel motor with Allied Loader plus Torque Amplifier on Transmission for more gears plus speed and old 1950 Cockshutt COOP 40 43 hp gas tractor ! But all learn drive on and old Cockshutt also all International tractor open no cab but 1968 624 had 1976 Chevrolet Impala 4 door family car hood on and I weld up also installed in 1992 for my high school Auto Mechanics project get marks on took 2 years do up ! Combine had cab with Air Conditioning 2 speed type ! Want Lol Hank my late dad said many years after buying wishes tractor had it ! But old Combine I installed RPM gauge also horn features it did have help out too lots and who did mechanics work on Farm stuff was me also my dad my Late Uncle Bill didn't want only Cockshutt he had own after my grandparents past away till got scrap for parts too in 1993 ! But I enjoy farm stuff back then too and fix was challenge to ! I know my dad and his brother my uncle had mix of John Deere and International in Machinery plus my dad never like green color Lol but he made Lol said wishes had all John Deere tractor and Machinery because dealership near home farm had everything from 1910 to present years till close up forever in 2013 ! Lol great family business too had and helpfull but big John Deere Dealership in next Town was bigger and hard the local succeed that all!

Shore is nice to see you again! Somewhat disappointing , nice to have new equipment to run but really thought you would have some vintage iron to operate around the farm. I run D2 Cats a 1947 Lima crane and a 1947 Autocar in my dooryard.
