I sincerely hope they work hard to restore it inside and out. What a beautiful treasure it is! These older mansions deserve to be well maintained and cared for - for future generations. I live in Wilmington, Delaware and I was in this house about 40 years ago. A friends family was renting a portion of the house and it was in very good condition. Its hard to believe it looks so run down and completely different in 40 years...unbelievable!

It's called not everyone knows how to use a camera for filming, you have to take lessons on how to move the camera so that the audience can focus on what is in the center while the camera moves around. Whenever the camera moves one should say 1001...1002....1003... 1004... to themselves as the camera loves, the audience's eyes view moving at the same rate, plus they're able to focus. Many people don't know this and think that just because they have a camera they know how to shoot things, when they in fact don't.

Guys, be careful when you go into any place that you see chipping of paint. It’s oil based and when it turns to dust it’s really bad for you. The dust gets in your lungs! Other then that thanks for sharing. I would not have the nerve to go into any DuPont property.

@@CharlesCoderre-yv1cu it’s actually lead and she is correct! All that chipping paint is a sign of lead and the dust it causes is lead dust. Walking over ground with that dust or the ledge they climbed up on initially was covered in paint chips. Probably got a huge dose of lead. They really should be wearing masks. Most places built on the east coast more than 30/40 years ago have lead paint all over them. Especially outside and on railings and shit. It is very very bad for you.

Marianne Bradley could not be further from the truth. The DuPont family fortune is worth over 14 billion. They still own and keep up several mansions and estates here in Greenville Delaware and often when they pass they leave money to preserve the estate. I spent my entire life on a 500 acre privately owned DuPont estate. Still plenty of money.

I wish you would take more time at the beginning of this piece. John Rodney Brinklee' and his (the first governor of Delawar) Caesar Rodney (who is also on the back of the Delaware quarter) are both my ancestors. This home and the horitcultural garrden behind, gave root to a novel utation and therefore species of Sweet Pea, rightly called Gibralter because it was discovered in her gardens. I wish I had known she was empty... I would have moved heavan and earth to move back into and restore this family home of ours even though people find the Duponts more famous.

Just watched this video. Thanks for sharing! A friend of mine took me into Gibraltar in 2013 (before they put up security cameras - still don’t know if they’re real or fake 🙄). I have a lot of photos on my FB from that day. Super fun, but I’d get so lost in that house by myself. 😂 It’s huge with so many stairs. The only place I didn’t go was the basement. I was skeeerrd. Lol! I love exploring old houses, though. I wish this one could be restored in full for the public and not turned into commercial office space. Gross!

The Cult House in Chadds Ford PA is at 200 Cossart Rd. even the driveway accessing it seems non-existent. You can see the trees growing away from the house itself. If you look on google maps in the background, you can see the red truck that supposedly chases people away on the large expansive property.

The last living sole aire to the Du Pont Fortune was a man who was placed in a school for the mentally handicapped in glenmore Pa. Devereux brandywine campus he was still living I would suppose he was in his 40s back in 1972 his name was Joe Urban, I doubt the school will give anyone info on him due to his connection to the Du Pont family.

Could not see anything for jumping around with the camera. Quitting this one and go on.
