I have your watch still cause I'm waiting for the 1st Jason action doll to come in the mail. Next month I'll see if I can find the other one that has even more stuff that goes with it. Find them on WISH. I have to walk miles to the bank cause my apt manager won't make 1 short call to the bank & have them FAX the missing bank statements I need for my 'reassessment' we Hud folks have to go through each year. She's a really mean person but it is what it is. She's doing her best to kick me out of my apt😃😂😁 What she might find is she might go to jail for her underhanded actions and for not giving tennets their rent recites, that alone is a Federal offence. She gave me the papers 2 days BEFORE they were due but it's dated on the papers that by law you are soposed to have 10 days to give her the stuff. Oh well....🤘👻

The mighty Erie Railroad. How sad it is ancient history. My Dad worked in the Erie Shops in Hornell, NY for close to thirty years, as did his father and brother. When the Erie left this town it was the end of an era for this small city.

The cave you found used to be a spring house and a refrigerator of the old days. It was made to get fresh purified water and to keep perishables cold in the summer. Back in the days before power and refrigerators when people would have meat and stuff, they would put it in there to keep it from spoiling. If your ever back that way, look around in the woods. All those bottles you found, there must be a and old house foundation around there somewhere close by. It would be pretty cool to take a metal detector if you would find where the old house was. Back in those days people buried money and stuff around trees and around the house. Who knows what you might find. Thanks for the videos. Love them!

A few notes. around 7:22 in your video, Milepost 11 should have been on the right side of the tracks, it was still standing the last time I was there. Starting at 10:07 see the double rock cut behind you? That second cut was an older railroad known as the Lackawanna iron & coal company railroad. When you do your hike up to #5 dam at Montage Mountain, part of "Ore mine road" will be the old railroad grade. You should have seen this second cut get lower as you walked towards River st. It did cross the Erie and then continued on, its grade can be seen in places very well. Around 50:47 as the tracks are curving right, Mile post #12 was still there a few years ago. Starting at 56:33, the large stone wall is known as the palisades. Behind it is the Pennsylvania Coal Company Gravity Railroad, plane #5. The wall was build for the gravity railroad. If you follow it, you can see the remains of the gravity plane. Around 1:17:15 look to the left, the railroad grade seen there is the Laurel Line's Dunmore branch. About 1:18:15 (not sure) was the remains of Mile Post #13, but it was destroyed a few years back. 1:19:54 is the remains of the foot bridge that went over the tracks and I-81. There is a ton of history in this section. Nice Video! I published my pictures of walking this area here. Also links to the other railroad grades in the area: www.nepaview.com/erie-river-st-to-montage-mtn-rd.html www.nepaview.com/pcc-number-5-plane.html www.nepaview.com/lackawanna-iron--steel-company-railroad.html www.nepaview.com/lwv-cut-off.html

Catching up on your old vides here, hence, the REALLY late comment! Around the 7:05 mark, on your right, there should be a trailhead. From what I understand, that was a railbed that originated in the iron mines in the East Mountain area. I assume it was for ore cars taking the ore to the larger rail line. Spent a lot of time in that area in my teen years in the 80's. Another great video!

I looked up the Bromo Seltzer. It was an antacid taken as a headache reliever but more commonly as a hangover cure. It’s main ingredient, bromide, was a tranquilizer. It was addictive and the earliest version was also toxic. The pharmacist who originally sold it started to do so in the 1890’s. A 14 story building bearing the seltzer’s name was built in 1911 and was the tallest building in Baltimore at the time. It had a giant Bromo Seltzer bottle on top of the tower that was removed in 1930. The seltzer with the addictive ingredient was taken off the market in 1975. A newer version with mainly baking soda and acetaminophen was brought back in the 90’s and can still be bought online. My guess for all the bottles there is that people probably used to throw their trash out there. I’d love to see you dig up more!

I worked for A&P in the early 80"s in Greenport, New York. Rachael Carpenter who owned A&P at the time had a house on Shelter Island. It was very big house next to a golf course on a big piece of well manicured property right on the water facing Greenport. I made minimum wage which I believe was 3.85 at the time.

P.S. I have to warn you though, "Night of the living Dead" and "Dawn of the Dead" were filmed in PA (I really wonder why??), so when walking about in the woods, remember to keep your guard up, especially around Monroeville Mall and old cemeteries which in my opinion are still hotbeds of Zombie activity in PA! :)

1:20:34. thats an old 5 or 6D battery flashlight... Radio shack I think. I had one of those when I was a kid in the late 70s. Radio shack had the battery club cards, every month you could bring your card to a store they would hole punch it and give you a battery. My grandfather owned a TV repair shop in sacramento so he knew all the local radio shack store owners on a personal / business level so I always had D batteries for that light, and 9V batteries for my electronic toys. That brings back fond memories.

When I was about 11 or 12 maybe 13 we lived in Omaha Nebraska and us kids used to walk to an old train trestle and climb all over it and play and got slivers galore and got in trouble many times but kept going back till a railroad man in a dark colored truck and he had dark shades on and a gun strapped on and that was not the norm in the 60s and we believed him when he said dont come back or else and that was the end of the fun at the train trestle. If I remember since I am elderly now it was close to 90th and Center St. That might not be right as it was like 50 years ago. I do remember the high school I went to LOL Westside but then my Dad move us all to Phoenix.
