PLEASE CHECK OUT "MY HERITAGE" ITS FANTASTIC AND YOU GET A 14-DAY FREE TRIAL! bit.ly/AnimarchyHistory Well Guys... All these months later its finally time to continue our journey down the rabbit hole in the wonderful world that is Russo-Soviet aviation history. After our brief introduction to their fighter programs throughout the first half of the 20th century, the rise of "Amicable Adolf and the Spicy Pinwheel Gang" led to humanity storming into the jet age in explosive fashion. Yet in Moscow progress was lagging behind, but through violence, espionage and a little bit of crime, the come back was on. In this video we take a look at the very first efforts of the Russo-Soviet Aviation industry in jet propulsion and the cavalcade of calamity which reads more like a Monty Python Movie than real history. I frankly find amazing that Soviets THEMSELVES were not ashamed to admit they bought, copied and "enhanced" Rolls-Royce Nene and Derwent engines for their jet fighters Mig-15 and Mig-17. I have couple Soviet and Polish books about Eastern Bloc aviation from the 1960s and 1970s and they NEVER lied about it, when they tried to conceal the usage of the German engines...
@whtalt923 сағат бұрын
Why lie about something you fair & square bought on the open market? (of course there is additional propaganda value in reminding people the capitalists provided the means to their own doom, or something...)
@A_Haunted_PancakeСағат бұрын
@@whtalt92 Well, "fair & square" if you skip the part, where Russia promissed to only use those engines to further civil aviation and then pretty much exclusivly put in military planes.
@Nastrokefus42 минут бұрын
Lol. In books maybe. but in USSR people were told that it is our great engineers overwhelmed western capitalist pigs. 90% of russians still doesnt know that their pride "best soviet plombir" (icecream) was bought in so hated USA. So as most of their industrialization was build by american blueprints and bought by lives of Ukrainian people. They copied and stealed literally everything. Greetings from Ukraine.

I've noticed a remarcable theme in Russian aviation history: Fixing the root-cause of a problem is so rarely the first step taken, even when said problem known & understood. To paraphrase something that is usually atributed to American foreign policy: "They will do the right thing, once they've tried everything else". Except the "doing the right thing" part often never came.

To this day he's furious at the Soviet Stavka for not letting the bulk of the Black Sea Fleet and Naval Air Service based in Kuban to support the evacuation.
