Geauga Lake Amusement Park nestled in Aurora Ohio has some big plans for the future, but until then we take one last final look inside the park before demolition ensues. Geuga Lake actually has some special meaning to me, being only about 45 mins away from me growing up, I would frequent the park often. Tho its sad seeing the park in this condition, the future plans do seem a little brighter than what it is now..

What a trip...man. I was there when I was 11 years old in 1977. It was during my family's final trip together. We drove from our hometown of Fenton, Michigan. We only planned on going to "Sea World"...which was on the other shore of the lake. While hangin' at Sea World...us kids noticed the rollercoaster across the water. So...after Sea World we spent the rest of the day at Geauga Lake Amusement park. We absolutely LOOOOOVED IT!!! Thanks for posting this... PRECIOUS F*****G MEMORIES BRAAAAA!!!😊🎉❤

So sad. We lived in Bainbridge and later Aurora. We went to Geauga Lake and Sea World tons with our kids when they were young. And 2 of my kids worked at Geauga Lake in the summertime when they were teenagers. The small amusement parks definitely brought a lot of fun into our lives back then. Especially for families with younger kids. Teen agers, college students, young adults may demand something like Cedar Point. But for family fun, you could have a great time at Geauga Lake.

"Dating Myself", My Father was a Cleveland Letter Carrier way back when and the Post Office held they're company picnic here every summer. < "Company Picnic"< definitely a different world today compared to the 60's- 70's, Anyways, A lasting memory will always be climbing in the big silver rockets and spinning perpetually on stranded steel cables as if you were really flying. These vdeos bring a mixed bag of sadness and eternal happy memories. Thank you for this tribute to such a wonderful Amusement park in our back yards.

I always liked geague Lake so much more than Cedar Point. It was less manic and had trees for shade and seating for relaxing.Was my favorite place to take my kids.

I still can't forgive Cedar Fair for what they did to this park, and it really angers me when everyone blames Six Flags.
@reteledman
@reteledman 9 ай бұрын
Was Cedar Fair the one who blew this park out of proportion? No. Six Flags was the one who grew the park too big too fast. They caused the death of the park, Cedar Fair only accelerated it by taking away the waterpark and animal show stuff.

@@reteledman however, once Cedar Fair took possession, it was THEIR finances, not Six Flags' that determined the success of the park.

Both were at fault Six Flags for combining the two different parks and failing to make it work while Cedar Fair was at fault for not be able to maintain the parks in the long run and ultimately gave up and closed them both albeit in different years. They could had someone else buy either park and run the other one but nope.

Naturally a land developer got ahold of the park and is turning into a residential area. I am not surprised. There were and I imagine still are land developer sharks lurking around my home park Six Flags Magic Mountain. And they near succeeded in gaining the property when Six Flags put it up for sale in 2006. Luckily Six Flags realized that even though the company as a whole was in trouble, this park was a landmark and still brought in money. However the land surrounding the park has been developing over the years. There are now many residential housing tracks behind the park property. I suppose the residents don’t mind having a popular theme park as a neighbor. Or they better not because rhe park was there long before their homes were.

Oh, joy, more cheaply built houses set in a boring suburb where the land's been scraped flat. These people need more regulation.

The cement pillars in the water were for the 2 coasters they had over the water (Dominator and Serial Thriller). The rest of the coasters were built on land. That stone wall had a walkway that led down to one of the coasters in the water. It’s sad to see this. CP did not want competition and this was the way to get this park out was to buy it and tear it down. But Six Flags started the mess.

Before it's demise. It was Geauga lake water park. Before that back and fourth from cedar fair's to six flags. Before that, Geauga lake water park and Geauga lake amusement park. Before that. Geauga lake amusement park and sea world... Just like the old colosseum and how they used to hold monster trucks and concerts outside. Ohio is where good things go to die. Stupid, greedy, detached share holders think they know what to do and consumers will follow along. Soon, cedar point will pass away. People up north need to put these companies in check...

My fury has already been lashed out over this. The amount I care about concrete foundations of a place long demolished is relatively limited. My fury over what happened to Big Dipper will never die but I'm so much more mad about, say, what's happened to Conneaut Lake Park at this point. As a van lifing coaster nerd new housing on the site of a park will always infuriate me but in this case it is hard for me to be too upset given that the park's already gone.

✍Hello... I hope that the hateful People who complained loud enough to get the park closed is happy !! I know there were probably other reasons but I remember reading the stories that were printed in the Beacon Journal newspaper about the complaints from the neighbors of Geauga Lake Park and all the traffic etc. but people who bought homes in that area should have realized what they'd be dealing with when they bought in that area. I was raised in the 40-50s and the BF Goodrich held their company picnics there and when I married my husband and I and our daughters would go there instead of Cedar Point (too far and too expensive). Now there's nothing for families to go for summer fun that's affordable etc🏖 🎠🎡🎢 and now those neighbors have a "beautiful abandoned, empty run down park" to look at !! We need places for families to take their children for some summer fun. We all can't afford trips to "Disneyland or Disneyworld, Epcot, etc at any age. I'd love to have been able to take my kids there but even now past retirement age I still couldn't afford a trip there. Its a shame someone out of all those big investors can't see how much money they'd make if they catered to families and family entertainment. Bye from NE Ohio🌹
