My first assessment of building tall status is that its a waste of man-power and resources. But then again if your country has the tallest status in the world, it would become a tourist hotspot, increasing the nations earnings in the long run.

I'd like to clarify that the statue of unity was built to honour Mr. Patel for his acts after independence of India after 1947 He is referred to as 'Iron Man Of India' bcz he unified many(hundreds) princely states that would have ootherwise seceded. Hence Statue of Unity Nothing to do with any sort of pre independence struggle

He should've been the first PM. Was a far superior leader to Nehru but Nehru was Gandhi's favorite. It goes to show that inspirational leaders (Gandhi) aren't necessarily good leaders. It just cost India 50 years to finally dig out of the morass of the Nehru dynasty

@@gauravshukla71 Please read the whole story don't sell half baked knowledge . He was one of the PM candidate. But The reason he wasn't chosen, Our country got independence in 1947 ,country was in the poorest state u can imagine . We needed a long term leadership because change in leadership leads to many problems as everyone has different thinking. Sardar Patel was aged man if not old .Therefore he wouldn't have been able to lead the country for long time .And it happened we lost our great leader in 1950 just after 3 years of independence .Just tell me what would have happened if he had been made the PM . We wouldn't have had a PM just after 3 yrs of independence giving a great chance for our neighbour terrorist to attack and us . Most of the (if not every) decisions made by our ancestors were good and for the country and not like patel wasn't given his credits .He was the first Home Minister of our country (as amit shah is now) .Do u find that its a lower post to be HM ?

@@TejasAmrutkar-qz8rg I get the longevity argument. However having continuity is not the same loss as Nehru's mistakes. He turned down a UN Security Council seat. Huge blunder. He stopped at the LOC. Huge mistake. His family's mismanagement of the economy maybe even worse. He may have had our best interests at heart but he wasn't a strategic thinker. It 's such a negative it's mind boggling

@@HarleyLuna31 not exactly, but kalyug is lowest or worst among other yugas (yug). People become mean and selfish in Kalyug which causes clashes. Kalyug started when Krishna went from earth after leaving his human incarnation behind. But don't worry, yugas (yug) are so big time cycles. They based on divine years. Each yugas includes hundred thousands of years if we calculate divine years according to human years. Every yuga teaches way of life and how to survive in different era accordingly.

Describes in vivid detail the construction of the statue and the importance of the Hindu symbology. You get to see the inside of the structure and framework. Get pictures of the entire island. Most of these statues were build within the last 50 years, no doubt because of the advanced technology required to build such huge structures. I've gotta wonder if there'll be a statue topping 1,000 meters (1 kilometer) in height built within the next 50 years. (FYI - The tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai at 828 meters.)

Statue of Unity. LOL, how about we just call it the "Not Gandhi" statue. The statue dedicated to the man who was most important to the liberation of India (as long as you don't count Gandhi or a dozen other people). Even in most of the important historical footage of the man, he's standing BEHIND Gahdi. Waaaaaay behind him. You know who he really is? The man connected to the CURRENT ruling party of India! His monument is an amazing example of the current political corruption in the county, which struggles to maintain even the most basic of public services, but still finds the money to build the world's most audacious statute. Almost half a BILLION DOLLARS were spent on that eyesore, which is quickly eroding and sections have already been closed off to the public. By all means, you should see it while you can. Much like corrupt administration that funded it, it will someday soon collapse.

Nice to see a person who is cursing his own country (Of course if you are Indian). That man was responsible for uniting the princely states of India. If only he had handled Kashmir, it would have been better. Just people like you are the reason India is not growing. Vallabhbhai Patel was as Important as MK Gandhi or Subhash C. Bose. Your ignorance doesn't matter.

The size of the statues and the surrounding buildings may give a misleading impression. While I appreciate the effort to establish an environment, it would have been more helpful if they were to scale realistically with the surrounding buildings. This way, it could provide a more accurate idea of how it truly looks in reality.

I heartily recommend seeing the Garuda Wisnu Kencana and paying the extra to go as up inside the statue as you can. It has immense significance to the island of Bali and on clear days, can be seen right across the southern part of the island. Its an incredible achievement that nearly didn't happen. I'm glad I explored the statue and the area around it, the story of how it came to be is great and the government in Bali has plans to expand the area greatly.

@@deeznutz8320 They don't have to necessarily like statues. They're driven by their egos. Which is why they will not rest until *they* beat the rest of the world in having the tallest structures. They already have the world's tallest building in Dubai. I'm sure they will not rule out the idea of building a 5000 meter high structure. Once again, this is all about their ego.
