Around 17:13 - the plant Jared is looking at, and assuming probably debating trying, is called staghorn sumac. You can make a "lemonade" off of the red berries, but you want to wait 3 days after it's last rained at least, so you get the most mallic and gallic acid; the souring agents. You can nibble on the "berries" raw too, but there's not much to them; seed and papery skin. The flavor is in the acids on top of the skin and that is what you're really after. You steep in cold water for a number of hours/overnight, agitate, strain through cheesecloth, then sweeten to taste. Rich in vitamin c, and does taste similar to lemonade/ strawberry lemonade.

In 1929, the Girl Scouts of the USA purchased approximately 150 acres (0.61 km2) of land bordering Lake Ontario, where they subsequently built Camp Beechwood. The park was used by the Girl Scouts and other youth organizations for camping and outdoor activities until financial pressures forced the camp's closure in the late 1990s. Thank you for sharing this! I use to attend Girl Scout Camp there at Beechwood every Summer with scouts. This video is sad to watch knowing the Girl Scouts just left it go, but it brought back fond memories of my childhood and the happy times I had there. Below the GS camp is a boy scout camp down near the lake. Have you checked that out to see if it too was abandoned?

There is a channel on KZbin called "grizzlypeak" where a guy pretty much just goes around exploring old abandoned buildings/campsites like this. Unfortunately, he hasn't uploaded anything new in about two years now. Maybe he ran out of old abandoned sites in his area to film... OR MAYBE he finally poked around somewhere that someone didn't like him snooping around and made him "disappear." Hmm...

Great video! You are a braver man than I. The first (and last) time I entered an abandoned building I was met by a squatter not very amused by my presence. Among all those ominous, menacing signs (that you valiantly ignored), that "be kind, please rewind" in the swimming pool was heartwarming 🤣. I find it amazing that people like to have sex in places like these... Or worse, that cave in Laos where so many people died...

Once again, great video Jared! Reminds me of "grizzlypeak" videos back when he was doing this sort of abandoned campsite exploring like you did here. But you did it perhaps even better -- I was laughing so hard at the "sex room" and the peep hole with a hidden mirror that peeps you back! One curious thing was the abandoned swimming pool at 17:30. How does it stay empty like that? Wouldn't rain water tend to puddle up in it and create a breeding ground for mosquitoes? Did the park maintenance people put a drainage hole into it somewhere?

@@WeirdExplorer Yes, those murders occurred in Oklahoma. Camp Scott never reopened after the murders in 1977 after being in operation for 49 years. From the pics I have seen of Camp Scott, it was laid out very similar to this one that you just toured. All tents were elevated off the ground just like these. I suppose back in the day, that is just how they were set up all over the country. Wish you could do a tour of Camp Scott someday if you haven't already. I'm curious as to how it looks now.

So after doing a ton of research between all accounts in the last few days. Not knowing of this event. There seems to be some discrepancies on what they chose to use for the prosecution of who committed these crimes. And everything I've looked at they never mentioned the fourth girl. Because the fourth girl says I saw a box of donuts outside the tent as they were getting ready to go to bed. one of the scout leaders came and got her and put her in her correct tent. Another account says I saw three flashlights coming towards them during the same time period and they screamed and the lights went away. Another account says that somebody tripped her that had khaki shorts and Boots. There was three boys that bragged about this and one of them ended up getting killed. Months later. During this time period in America there was all kinds of crazy pornography and comic books about killing women. To say that these boys did not see those things. Considering how the crimes were acted out. Because Ted Bundy saw the first wave of comic books like this if we're released in the late 40s and 50s. Everything in those comic books were the exact way that Ted Bundy carried out all his murders down to the sick sexual acts committed on his victims. When you put that kind of screwed up stuff in front of the young male. You can't predict how it's going to affect your thinking. We're talking elementary School age. There's no way it could have been those three boys.

This is a different camp.. can you tell me how you came across my video. I've been getting lots of comments about the camp killings. I'm starting to wonder if someone linked my video on a blog or something.

UUUUMMMMMM, actually, this camp closed down right after the murders. That's what the other video says. It has been abandoned since 1977. What you are seeing is probably from squatters and runaways. I don't mean to be rude, but you should have probably looked into your information before you did this video.

Yeah... it would be even more interesting to see it if only nature did damage to the property and not trouble making teens.
