Greyhound racing isn’t banned in Florida it is only banned in one American state which bans racing of ANY dog. What is banned in Florida is gambling on live greyhound racing.

Great video of a cool abandoned dog track! I love the vintage feel that it still has and that a lot of stuff still looks intact!!! And much kudos to you for respecting the owner. I was brought here to this video after watching a flyover video of a dog track here in Texas that I used to live by that recently became abandoned about a year or so ago, Gulf Greyhound Park. I would love to see what the inside of that track looks like now. Any chance you could take a trip down here to Texas and talk to owners for an inside tour? That would be awesome!

Years ago I worked at a casino in Iowa that has dog racing, you could almost watch the race from the back loading dock. And it's better to be safe and not go to far in the property, you could confront the owner or maybe the homeless. Good Vodeo

I think so.. sorry I don't remember on the top of my head since this was filmed 4 yrs ago or so and have filmed so much since then. It was definitely somewhere around the orlando area from what I remember.

I grew up near a greyhound track in Orange Park but I never visited it. If I recall, it was one of the few forms of gambling legal in Florida (except for the casino on the Seminole reservation). Excluding the Lottery, the only other legal gambling I'm aware of was Jai Alai if I remember correctly.

Hi, I'm in Jax, never been there either, never would go. Florida voted to end greyhound racing by 2020, but as of May only 4 out of 11 in the state had closed. A lot seem to be waiting until they are forced, and it looks like the old Orange Park Kennel Club, now BestBet, will do that, but will stay open with other things like poker and poker tournaments and hosting events like weddings, parties, etc. (Anyone interested in adopting a greyhound, call Florida! Lol)

About 25 to 30 years ago in Florida, just about every few miles was another dog racing track, it seemed like it. I think I remember them being everywhere. I could be completely wrong too. But I swear they were all over Florida. Another great video from you! 😊❤✌

@@InfamousCrimeLocations it's a common misconception because the news media conflates the wagering with the actual dog racing (as if those two things can't exist separate and apart from each other). The dog racing tracks only went out of business because the revenue came from the wagering, not the racing by itself.

We had a few dog tracks here in AZ, Tucson and Amado, Amado closed many years ago and I think the one here in Tucson may still be open but not very often. Always best to follow your gut feelings.

@@dcamht Thank you for your inquiry. The actual name for this greyhound racing track is Jefferson County Kennel Club. Greyhound racing enthusiasts throughout Florida have always referred to it as "Monticello". The City of Monticello is near Tallahassee and is close to the Florida/Georgia border.

Hi, I'm glad they have now banned it there, it should be banned across the world in my opinion as in certain cases the dogs are mistreated and it also encourages gambling which is the worst thing anyone can do.
