Beautiful building 👍, I lived in an old Queenslander for nearly 10 years, it was over 100 years old when I moved in. Loved the house. To imagine some one was living in this house in that state is unreal.

I know exactly where this is. The guy who owns it lives on the street too. The story is that the guy wanted council permission to convert this property into a workshop/garage for his cars but the other residents all petitioned to stop it. So to say F**K ya to the other residents he has left the house in this state, he even still pays rego on the cars out front.

Many years ago before town planning U would see 5 houses on a street and then a factory/car workshop and then another 3 houses. Those areas still remain but now they have industrial and housing zones so houses aren't all next to a big factory or car workshop.......Sorry if the owner is angry at the rules but it is like that everywhere in Australia ( for good reason), My guess is he was always a hoarder and sent plans to the council for a workshop and this and that but whether he built sheds, house or whatever it was always and had always been a mess........The only reprieve neighbors get from hoarders is when the owner passes away and a family member inherits the plot of land, bulldozers everything and takes it to the trash.......We have a famous one in a nearby suburb in Melbourne too.

This house is exactly the same design, only reversed, as my grandparent's house which was a Coorparoo. The verandah at front was originally opened with the main door/entrance just where the leadlight window is, that was called a vestibule. My grandparents also closed in their verandah, as they needed more space/sleeping quarters, so a sunroom was created and a bedroom on the side was created in front of the shower room, by adding a wall across from the corner of the internal lounge out to the sidewall of the home. It was the norm, back around the war years, when accommodation was at a premium, for people to let out rooms or have relatives move in with them, which my grandparents did on many occasions throughout their lives. The bathroom consisted of a shower and handbasin only, the toilet was downstairs under the house, until one was added onto the back porch in the 1970's. I think the home originally had two big bedrooms, but they created a small third bedroom in between these two very large rooms by moving the walls. The home had very high ceilings. Great memories of that home, as my grandparents were party people and were always entertaining as my grandfather when a child was bought an upright piano and given lessons, that piano was the centre of the home as he played it every day

As soon as I saw those first two stacks of newspapers I KNEW it was a hoarder house. What IS it with hoarders and newspapers? If there was a reasonable assurance of not finding animals and birds, dead or alive, I would enjoy clearing out one of these places. Something that is an ongoing issue with me is how so much is wasted in these empty houses. I don't see how there can't be some legal way of clearing them out and salvaging useful contents, maybe not valuable but at least useful. Too so much history may be lost in letters and photos and diaries. I understand that even houses such as the one in this video have an owner somewhere even if it's just the bank but I have faith in the ability of people to come up with a legal, honorable way to stop this waste. Maybe have assigned, paid caretakers and if no one claims the property then clear it out after a set amount of time and sell or even donate the contents to those in need. If a bank owns the house it's better all around to have the house maintained so it can be sold. Everyone wins. It's in everyone's best interest to stop this waste and loss.

My mom had a friend that was a hoarder her basement was stacked about 5 ft high and all you could get was a 2 ft wide path down one side of it to get from the back door to the steps upstairs the rest was filled with newspapers and magazines because she needed to read them all before she could throw them away and every day she put another one unred on the pile

Really nice cars which is really worth fixing up and repainted imagine the price of those vehicles they could over millions of dollars and probably such a rare car but really nice cars. But where could these people be maybe still alive and moved some where else or probably past away it could've been owned by the lady from the picture frame and some really cool useful stuff. I don't know what they are going to do with that house probably it might get demolished and stuff will get destroying, Hope they keep those cars to fix them up and put them in a Action or Sell and I would hate to see those cars crushed or destroying at the car wreaking yard it could be a money waste, I like the frame of that lady looks like a nice photo.

You don't know much about cars if you think those are valuable. The '60s Wolseley is worthless, as is the Humber. The Mk I Jag, if it's bodily sound, might be worth a little to a keen restorer, but if it's like the others, and the rest of the place, it's probably rusted to uselessness.

Mate, that house is not abandoned (it just looks it). Did you have permission to be on the premises? It is very easy to find the address and the name of the owner. Not a good look to be doing that. Maybe learn the difference between Urban exploring and illegally entering and sneaking around someone else's property regardless of how interesting you happen to find it to be. People have a right to privacy on their property.

These type of Queenslander houses are high maintenance as they need an exterior paint every eight years at the minimum. The Clayfield type homes that are lower off the ground are better. Analogue colour cathode-gun TVs are no use to anyone.
