DO YOU SEE ALL THAT MOLD COMING THROUGH THE WALL AND GROWING ON THE DOLL FACE, ETC? THAT'S STACHYBOTRYS, DEADLY BLACK MOLD. THOSE SPORES GET INTO EVERYTHING, INCLUDING YOUR LUNGS! YOU NEED TO WEAR RESPIRATORS AND HAZMAT SUITS TO BE IN PLACES LIKE THAT, IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH! ALSO, REGULAR 8 AND SUPER 8 MOVIES WERE BETWEEN THE 1950-1970 TIME FRAME, GIVE OR TAKE A FEW YEARS. I GREW UP WITH THEM. MY DAD TAUGHT ME HOW TO SPLICE AND EDIT OUR SUPER 8 FILMS ON THAT SAME MODEL! I SPENT HOT SUMMER DAYS IN OUR BASEMENT WATCHING OUR MOVIES WHERE IT WAS COOLER. I LOVED IT!

This was the home of Mary Avdevich Beale. Norwich - Mary (Avdevich) Beale, 94, wife of the late Elmer Beale, formerly of Norwich, died Friday morning, May 28, 2010, at Apple Rehabilitation Center of Mystic. Born in Norwich on Feb. 17, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Elizabeth (Pinta) Avdevich. On Feb. 11, 1935, in Norwich, she was united in marriage to Elmer Beale, who died on May 18, 1983. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a supervisor in the laundry department of Norwich Hospital. Mary was an avid gardener, enjoyed crocheting, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Jenna Beale and Molly Lebovitz, who brought her great joy in her final years. Surviving is a son, Leon Beale and his wife, Margaret, of Gales Ferry and a daughter, Mary Drena and her husband, William, of North Stonington; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Which would mean that the house is not abandoned and the family owns the home and just haven't done anything with it, which means these guys literally just broke into someone's house. Interesting.

Actually it is abandoned. If no family comes and takes the items left behind then everything just gets wasted. Even if you have no heirs you should at least have a will to even leave items to friends or charitable organizations.

This is definitely not a hoarder's home. Sentimental value was attached to things given at one time and therefore kept. That has sadly been largely lost in today's society. Like my grandmother, this lady most likely kept every gift, letter, and postcard she received. It's very sad to see things that could be family heirlooms just left there, especially all of those irreplaceable family photos. A monetary value can't be placed on such things. I'm wondering if she passed away and the state revenue department has it. In Georgia, the state department of revenue comes in and inventories the contents of the home and also appraises the value of the home, all for tax purposes. On the other hand, she may be in a nursing home somewhere and therefore still owns it. If that's the case, I wish the family would come secure it and keep the lights on to discourage break-ins. Sooner or later things will be stolen or destroyed. Great find, really enjoyed this one!

I always wonder about places like this. Why is no one tending to the place? But it does make for compelling viewing. This is true reality TV. I ran across a similar place to this when I was on my way to my mother's funeral, the place I went inside was in Virginia and it was much more decayed. Everything left behind. So sad.

I saw a lot of stuff in this video that my grandma also owns. I got a little emotional at one point because I feel like this might be my own grandma's house one day when she passes away. And it will be very difficult for us to come into her home and go through her things. She's lived in her house since she was ten years old. Her parents left it to her when they died. So if my aunt or uncles or my mom decided to put it up for sale, it will be the first time on the market since 1936. I really hope they keep it. As of right now though, she lives there alone since my grandpa passed away in 1993. My family all congregates to her house every Christmas and she makes the Christmas spread all by herself. She is 90 and I cherish every day I still get to talk to her. I know there won't be very many of those days left. In fact, I'm going to call her as soon as I get off here. Thanks for this video, great explore. May this grandmother live on in the hearts of her loved ones. That's a house full of love and memories you came upon. Glad you had a safe trip and that you two are together again. Blessings!

When the elderly die, if their home was fully paid for and consequently the bank had no knowledge of it, the family should step in, but young people, despite fond memories of their oldest relatives, tend to just leave the past alone and move on. This woman probably died quite a few years ago and now her home and belongings will disappear in mold and overgrowth. Very sad. Nice to see Kristy. Have fun on every adventure you embark on.👍

I thought the house might have been built in the 40's maybe. I've seen Craftsman bungalows built up to the 40's. The tan, butterscotch color of the stained wood paneling looks like what they used in the mid-20th century, and some of the doors look 40's era in style.
@MaxZomboni
@MaxZomboni 5 жыл бұрын
Good points. The paneling was definitely from a 1950s or early 60s remodel. Which makes me think that would have been too soon to remodel a 1940s house. I don't think most people remodel a house after just ten years. Then usually do that about 30 years or more. The slanted walls on the top floor look like a 1920s style to me. Also I believe that iron radiators like that were not used much after the 1930s. I guess it's possible, they could have been installed in the 1940s, but i have never seen them in a 40s house. Which is why I think it was build in the 1920s, Or maybe 30s.

Basically the film thing is a 8MM home movie video editor. Home movies used to be filmed on 8mm film with no audio. That device is used to view frame by frame pieces of film cut where you want to stop it and splice in another start point from another film or another part of the same film. Think of it as windows movie maker of the 1960's.

Nice Find y'all. Nice to go back to abandoned house beginnings. Enjoyed this very much. Hello Kristy, nice to see you back with Robb in videos. Robb, I agree about how weird it is everything is left just basically forgotten. The woman who lived there seemed very loved. All those family keepsakes just left. Seems sad her life in pieces and forgotten once she passed. The good out of all this is, to me, you and Kristy preserving on video. At least someone cares. Thanks for the explore.

This a great video. It's sad to see that someone's most treasured possessions are left behind. It makes me wonder why what seems to be a loving family would do such a thing. Maybe you two caught a little more than meets the eye. In our world today it's so easy for our 1st thought to be something negative. What instantly came to mind for me was the family didn't care enough to collect Grandma's treasures. You said yourself the house felt full of love. Then it hit me. Perhaps the family has so much love they couldn't bear to pack anything. perhaps it's their way of keeping Grandma alive. Thanks for the video.

As a kid my friends and I would pick through the trash at the local dump looking for treasures. Occasionally we'd run into a bunch of bags that were full of items that were not trash, we called them, “Goodie Bags”. It was as if someone just emptied Grandma's shelves and drawers into bags to just throw away. Even as kid just 10-12 years old I realized, just as you are saying here, the family just couldn't handle the task of reliving entire lifetimes of great memories. I even think they may have paid someone else to deal with the stuff. This was in the late 60's and the items were things like antique women's gold watches, jewelry etc. You're a real thinker being one of the only, that caught this as a possibility. I haven't read every comment though... Cheers!!!

With photos being in iPhones now, people just don’t care, they look at it all as junk or what kind of money they can get for it. They do not care about heirlooms or passing anything down. Great video. Always makes me wonder what happened that everyone just left all the things behind, that belonged to someone they loved. And that Kitchenaide mixer, wow. That is a $200.00 to $300.00 mixer. I have the More powerful one and it was $500.00. They are top of the line. Can’t believe it is even still there. Family should definitely come and get things. I loved both my grandmothers so much. Can’t imagine just leaving their things to rot away. Sad. Thanks 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Potentially the owner is in a nursing home and the family is unable to touch the property. In my area there's a house the lady passed away over 2 years ago the house sat I pretty much abandoned up until recently when the family finally decide to sell it, they definitely took a loss since the property is unlivable and condemned.

The owner died in 2010. The comment is at the top of the video, someone posted her obituary. Her husband died in 1983, and the surviving children were elderly as well at the time of her death.

One of the other videos exploring this house show that the last calendar that was hanging on the wall, was from 2004. Someone was still writing things on the calendar and crossing off days, etc.. The comment at the top of this video said that the woman passed away in 2010 i believe, she spent her final days/years, etc in a nursing home. So 2004 was likely the last time the home was lived in.

This video set me back on my heels , best work on YT imho Rob. Same here, at least 5 homes near me , A lot of other commenters mention houses like this in their neighborhood. My parents died recently and my oldest brother hoarded and metered out all of their things to family he felt worthy of it. Being the closest to my parents I have memories of them with my kids. Unfortunately even the tightest family will crumble away when a matriarch like this lady passes. Times and people are changing , I consider your work like this to be important . It helps provide a record of the way things used to be , soon all these homes will be gone.

Hi Robb and Kristy, I wish you a beautiful weekend too. This was once again such an awsome video and a great pleasure to watch you both together exploring that abandoned Grandmas house. - When looking at all the items you showed us in this house, I had the strong and deep feeling that every single item tells a personal story of their former owners. Besides finding everything you showed and commented wonderfully I did feel the melancholic atmosphere such a place inevitably has, when their owners abandoned it or even passed away. - But anyway - wonderful video and excellent camerawork. - You really do your very best with every new video. Take care and stay safe. Peace and blessings. - Kind regards!

Seeing this house reminded me of how America used to be when everything was closed on Sundays and just about every one went to church on Sundays and then it was to grandmas house for Sunday dinner. Good times when families were big and close nit. This house felt like i just stepped back in time. I like the old land line phones and wish they would go back to that. I could almost feel a presents that was a feeling of sadness and loneliness. I think and wish the family of the grandmother had done something with all this Grandmothers stuff especially all the photographs. HOW SAD! On a different note i am glad to see you two together!!! That makes me happy. Take care my friends. PEACE!!!

From other videos I've seen of the place, it seems like the house is near some other houses and a road, so it's probably less likely to be damaged and vandalized due to how many other houses are nearby.

I have that coffee/tea/sugar storage bin from the same manufacturer but from the 1950's rather than the later 60's-70's like that one. It's awesome you took notice of it. That red enamel sugar scoop was mint! So hard to find with no chipped paint. This woman wasn't a hoarder, in fact most people claim this same buzz word psychosis when they find lots of stuff but it's the wrong choice of words for the defined meaning. It doesn't mean "Lots of stuff, or woman who has THREE visors." (Haha, sheesh!) A hoarder keeps absolutely everything in most extreme cases, or collects certain unneeded objects to the detriment of their personal well being or the healthy balance of their home. Being a generation behind my grandmother you two may have experienced grandparents who kept less, but mine purchased things to keep and reuse forever or for as long as their dollars could possibly stretch. Even though the 70's took them from Bakelite to melamine to Melmac to eventually the super cheap plastics we used until the pollution crisis was finally acknowledged recently, older Depression era people preferred to purchase once rather than something that was disposable or intended to rapidly decay , finding the need to shop again and again an inconvenience and expense not worthy of the draw behind disposable convenience items. So of course this way of life required storage but that woman's storage spaces in her room were obviously ransacked rather than consuming her space in the way a hoarder's items would.

Ms GiGi Actually more like the mid 1980s. Microwaves weren't really a thing in the 70s. They did exist, but they were very rare, and until the mid 1980s most of them dials, not push buttons. So this one is definitely 1980s.

"Super 8" was an 8 mm home video camera that did not allow for audio. The device you stumbled upon is a splicer which allows you to view the original old film and insert audio narrative (notice the microphones). Someone was adding a voice to their old video memories before they would be forgotten forever.
