Abandoned Hydro Dam Wonalancet, NH - Brook Path

Today's adventure is another segment of "Things You Find in the Woods". We headed to Wonalancet, NH, one of the villages of Tamworth, NH. We used the Cabin Rrail parking area, about a 1/4 mile down the street from the iconic Wonalancet Union Chapel. We were able to find the old abandoned dam, which has been breached, the penstock along with the old generator building. There is also an old electric chairlift used by the original owners to get up and down the hill to the generator building. We then took the Brook Path trail down to the Locke Falls, which were very impressive after recent rain. We then continued down to the end of the Brook Path, turned around and came back the same way. The full Brook Path is roughly 4 miles round trip. This is a great family hike, just watch the kiddos on that steep part of the trail near the falls. The trails are maintained the WODC or Wonalancet Out Door Club and a in fine shape.

Hey Jimmy! Had spinal surgery a couple weeks ago. We had some pre-surgery videos to help cover the gap. Doctor says I should be go to by March. Hoping to go on a ton of adventures next year, now that the pain will be gone. 😀👌

Hi Bob! Surgery was on the 28th. Doctor was happy how the surgery went. He told me that come February, I will be a happy man. That should be the end of my recovery period. It is an awesome hike. The one steep spot is the only place we really used caution. We will be visiting again...in the summer though so we can take a dip or two. 😀
