My husband and I honeymooned there in the 80's. When we first walked in, we had a photo taken, wish I could post it. Had a cabin with round bed, mirrored ceiling, and pool, with his and her bathrooms. We had breakfast (pancakes only) delivered outside our cabin in a wooden box by a man that drove a station wagon. We did miniature golf, paddle boating in the lake, archery, and gun shooting. We saw a comedy show too. It was great. Wanted to celebrate our 25th anniversary there years back and found it closed. What a shame, it was a beautiful setting. Thanks for the video!

This is totally bizarre for me to see. In 2000 My husband and I honeymooned here... we were young and it was the only place we could afford. The place was REALLY dated but it was amusing and very camp. I was sad to hear of it going under..... I was also sad to hear of "Saxy Sal", the main entertainer at the nightclub, passing. In any case, it is so strange to see a place you once were while it was alive in this state. Goodnight Summit Resort.....

Love this video because we went to the Summit many times in the 80s & 90s. We were well aware of how corny the theme was but it just added to the fun. We use to go with 7 couples & kept going back there because it was so inexpensive & all inclusive. Breakfast, lunch & dinner included for under 100$ a nite. Entertainment every nite in the theater/lounge area. Thanks for the video, just sorry the place is in shambles. We have many pictures from our stays there. Several in the dining room with the wall of windows in the back and the rooms we stayed in. We never stayed in a villa, too expensive, lol. Many good memories.

I was there on my honeymoon in 1988, then 1996 and then 1998 for our 10th wedding anniversary we took our vows again in front of tht stone waterfall. There was a very Parrot there at the time. Then we went back in 2001 just before they closed. We had the pool in our suite. Everythg heart shape. Fireplaces heart shape Jacuzzi. We all had professional pictures taken of us tht they said they wud like to use for their broshures. We had to sign a waiver!? I still have all those pictures. I'm 74 year old now and all THTS left is those wonderful memories. We were in love with the Summit!💖

Dan, thank you so much. We actually went there on our honeymoon in 1995 and we were saddened when we heard it had closed down, but not surprised. Even back then, it was hopelessly outdated. We were in one of the honeymoon chalets. The resort was clean and well maintained at the time but the carpeting on the walls, the heart shaped bed and bath, the wrought iron medieval chandelier and the fireplace were just so hokie but added to the atmosphere. We still have fond memories from there, as well as the souvenir keychain and glasses. I will show this video to my wife and we'll have a drink in those glasses.

I worked here for several years in the late 90's into the 2000's, I remember everyone panicking cause of y2k, the family that owned it has all passed away, it went under cause the owner owed so much on his taxes and was too cheap to keep the place up to date and never wanted to spend money on fixing things, now it's completely destroyed, the last time I drove by the locals have vandalized so much of it, it's a shame

Do you have any clue as to who might own it now? It appears from this video that the lights are still on in the place, so someone is paying that bill, so it likely has an owner.

I am a west coast guy and don't know anything about the Poconos so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Lo and behold - one of the most notable residents there is Morris Wilkins, inventor of the heart-shaped bathtub and the guy who is credited for establishing this place as the 'honeymoon capital of the world'. This video is like a relic of this guy's work. He died this year. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_Wilkins

My husband and I honeymooned there back in 1981. The Pocono honeymoon resorts spent lots of money advertising in the various bridal magazines back in the day. You paid the price for the hotel and all three meals and your activities were included. We got married in the dead of winter and it was pretty cool to be swimming in the pool when it was 10 degrees outside! The Poconos has grown up a lot since we were on our honeymoon. I remember we didn't like what they were serving for dinner one of the nights we stayed and we drove about 15 miles to find a pizzeria! It's so very sad to see this....it was alive and vibrant when we're there in a cold January of 81. :(

My husband and I honeymooned here back in January of 1981. It was very nice back in it's day. We had one of the rooms with the pool. I believe it was called the Fantasia suite. It seems at that time instead of updating facilities and staying a little more current with the times, the various resorts there were trying to outdo one another with a bigger and better room offerings. I have great memories as it was a wonderful honeymoon. Couple that dined with us as dinner was on a *trial honeymoon*....I still laugh about that today. I was 19 when I got married and couldn't quite figure that one out. I have some pictures floating around....if I come across them, I will send them to you.
