A viewer just pointed out another creepy thing that I missed. Look at where the door handle should be on the emergency exit door at 9:13. Whoever was in here was behind that door watching me through the hole. You’ll see them quickly move off to the right. (And some of you are asking me to go back at night? Haha!)

Old batteries do that when they get too hot. I have had batteries explode on me and that's why it is important to replace them every so often even if they seem fine.

Repeated recharging and high intensity use of a battery, especially if it runs a high temperature, causes tiny amounts structural damage to the battery. Given time, this adds up and the battery can fail, and in this case, explode, or burst. Heat damages things, so yeah, batteries are bound to fail at some point even if its brand new, this can happen. That's why when ghost hunters have times where their "batteries just cut out" or stop working when they put in fresh new ones, or recently recharged, its just defective and bad batteries.

So between 11:12-11:20 they had pulled the camera back in. They are most likely hiding off to the left. The speaking is inaudible at best but I definitely can tell its a very wooden resonation of their voice. I think this person was scared to be found honestly but its still creepy knowing that someone was lurking around you.

It is such an incredibly beautiful building, I was very saddened that it had been allowed to fall into such disrepair, now I'm no expert, but It looked to be structurally sound, there weren't any obvious cracks in the foundation or support walls, I didn't see any cracks or holes in the ceiling and it didn't appear to be leaking, amazingly most of the windows shown were intact, from what I can see on the video, most of the damage seems to be cosmetic, perhaps it is salvageable, I hope somebody buys it and fixes it up.

Add your sightings below as a reply Sightings I noticed in order 6:47 battery explodes sounding like jizz 7:04 massive shadow fleeing door as cameraman turns around down the stairs. Most likely the battery explosion alerted him to the camera man's presence and he came to see what the noise was. Also the motion the hand of the shadow made appeared to make it look like someone smoking a ciggie as his hand gestured away from his mouth either that or he was telling someone next to him to "shhhh." 8:55 windows is blocked by a person peeping through it who flees then the windows becomes see through again. Could have been the camera light causing an illusion 9:12 Doorknob hole is covered then someone flees. Someone was peeping through it watching the cameraman until he came closer as the hole becomes visible. Also the door is heard making a shut noise. 10:13 as cameraman turns around to scratch mesh a man wearing a kkk hoodie with holes cut out at the eye sockets is observing him then flees. [*Edit* I read your comments: the KKK comment was a joke. I am not indicating it is a real Klan member just joking at the appearance of things for kicks. Thanks for your concerns *Edit*]. Could have been a pillow case with holes cut out for the eyes. 10:55 blood on the floor is from a possible childbirth (theory expanded upon later) 10:56 Someone says "let's get'em?" Then I hear a second voice say "lets go get'em!" 10:56 there is some shadow figure that appears like a deformed "shadow head" with glowing eyes. I really could not make out the entire head but it is there in the door when he looks away from the blood on the ground. Look in the second door. He zoomed in on it so I know he saw it. Right there on the floor. It might be an ilusion some sort of reflection was glowing like an eye but it doesn't look like a human head but thats the first thought that came to mind "deformed shadow head." As soon as he enters it vanished. You can't see it on the floor anymore and the scene cuts away. Oddly enough it only appears after the men downstairs say "let's go get'em." Those men were following him with a pillow case on their head because he had a camera. They were concealing their identity to rob him. I believe they wanted to rob him because he had thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment. I still can't tell if they were smoking. Dan would've smelled the tobacco. He was telling the other criminal to be quiet. They were going to Rob Dan. He is so lucky he left ok. The video was amazing. I feel like he didn't even realize it until the comments told him how bad he had it in there. They will never have a good name if they hurt Dan because he knows the police. I hope he stays safe. I don't believe those are paid actors at all. This was very real. I was going though this video just thinking to myself, "No, no, NO, why is he even in this place without a friend?" This list is spot on, the doorknob hole is about the freakiest thing I've ever witnessed in a video like this, because there's absolutely no mistake someone is mere feet from him, and also aware of his presence. At any rate, I've seen a ton of these urban exploration videos, but this one is actually difficult to get through. Dan doesn't seem oblivious, as he even monologues that he's aware something is going on, but too many signs of life there that he probably missed until he watched the video.

This reminds me of an unnerving experience I had photographing an abandoned greenhouse. I was walking around the outside for a while because it was so overgrown I had a tough time finding a way inside. There was a hole I could barely fit through and it was so quiet it seemed vacant. As soon as I got in, a dirty woman with no teeth came out of nowhere and followed me in blocking the exit. She asked what I was doing and I could tell I’d stumbled in on her drug hideout or something. Played it cool and told her I was doing a photography assignment for school to which she demanded to see my pictures. At the time I was too naive and overconfident that I could overpower her if I had to so I showed her my pictures. It changed her demeanor and she wanted to show me around. That’s when things started teetering on sketchy cause she started leading me through the greenhouse to a connected shed and 3 or 4 people started walking toward us out of the darkness. I kind of slowed down not wanting to get trapped and I think the lady sensed I was uncomfortable cause she told the other people to go away and she was helping me with a school project. They had a pretty sweet little hideout in a creepy yet cozy way. I ended up holding my nerve and taking some interiors and portraits inside their crack den but really I just wanted to get out of there. My teacher was fascinated by the pictures but also made me stay after class to lecture me about being safe. To me it’s one of those “because I didn’t die it was fun” experiences and spurred my interest in abandoned urban exploration. I just make sure to go with someone these days...

This building is creepy because it is in such a state of decay, but you can see the hints of beauty from its former glory. It really is quite lovely and would be such a shame for it to be lost. I wish that it could be restored, preserved and given some love.

Honestly, it's probably squatters, druggies, etc. That's why a lot of "ghost hunting" shows have the police do sweeps before they go in. There's actually an episode of Ghost Hunters where they missed a dude and he stole some equipment and ran off.

I have had somebody follow me on a walk through as well. I stumbled upon an abandoned resort in the Catskills one January when it was unseasonably warm, and let myself in through an open window. After checking out the downstairs I went up to the next floor to start looking at the guest rooms, when I started to get a really eerie feeling. Realizing I was entirely unprepared, nobody knew where I was, and that I had parked way out of the way basically in the woods (the whole place was overgrown), I decided to bail. Once I was downstairs though as I was walking back to the window I looked down at the wood floor, which was covered in condensation. There was a second set of footprints following mine. Needless to say I was horrified! That was one of the last times I did any of this type of stuff. Especially as a female, it’s hard to justify going solo after having an experience like that. I was lucky.

If I were a woman, I'd definitely be afraid of being raped or kidnapped. You're best off either not going or going with a man AND concealed carry. I'm 26 now but when I was 12, I was biking with my friend in the local park. As we were going back to the parking lot, we noticed that a lot of cars were showing up at once. We still kept biking towards it (As it was closest to the main road/exit) a man ahead of us was walking towards us and I shit you not he pulled the biggest type of kitchen knife from a knife block from behind his back and started running at us. We both spun our bikes around and screamed as we took the longer way to the exit. Looking back once we made it to the open baseball fields, he stopped and walked back into the woods. We didn't even call the police at the time because we were so freaked out being a young boy and all and not being used to something like that. If I were American I would conceal carry everywhere I go!

I was really curious on this house after seeing this so I did research on it. There was a bigger homeless guy that lived there, and the neighbors were feeding him food thats probably the smell you were smelling of food in the night visit. He started getting out of control and attacking kids and busting up there cameras, so they kicked him out and cleaned the whole house up. If you watch an updated video on the house now its completely empty no locked doors, and more boarded windows. That being said you were very lucky he did not attack you!!! loved the videos !!!

I’m genuinely curious how Dan got to the point of being able to solo these things. Like did he have an adventurous youth and build this up over time or does he just have balls of fucking steel. Aw that's really sad. The architecture was gorgeous and there were clearly people living there well after it was closed down. I read somewhere online that the guy he sees and hears in this video and the the one he does here at nighttime was well known to the neighbors. They knew he lived there and they'd leave him food out. Could just be a rumor as well though. But in any case it's sad. These are some of my all time favorite videos online and I'm so glad they were captured before it was too late.

@@TheWallsocket Dude was probably watching a blank TV because he is so out of it, it wouldn't surprise me. I grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada and one day when I went for a walk with my mother, we saw police officers all over the elementary school down the road and we saw that it was broken into because of the broken windows. Later on our walk we took a pathway through a small bit of woods and I noticed a black monitor, keyboard, mouse, and tower set up by the river as it it was able to be turned on for use. It was stolen from the school and the person/people who stole it must have been so high that they thought it would work without power. It actually was a creepy sight to see something electronic set up in the woods like that!

I think he mentions that the sounds he hears don't pick up in the video very well. Went he revisited at night he said it sounded silent on floors he was on, and then like a party was going on a different floor. He could tell at night that someone was in the house after a certain point but the camera doesn't really pick this up that well. They may have moved really carefully in the day so it sounded like an animal, wind, etc. Whereas Dan isn't trying to be sneaky.

I would say at the very moment when you filmed this there were at least 2 or 3 people in here with you. At 9:13 someone was watching you through a hole where to door knob would be and quickly covered it up as you approached. Then at 10:58 I think someone was trying to scare you, hoping you would leave. I find it interesting that there may still be people inhabiting this place. Glad you made it out of there unharmed. Just always be careful, may want to consider bringing pepper spray if you don't already have it in case you run into someone with bad intentions.

If I was touring a abandoned area I would be more afraid of running into an individual. I've never had any paranormal experiences but I imagine a ghost/spirit wouldn't have the intention or ability to harm you physically. With a stranger you don't know if they are friendly or an enemy, they could be armed with anything and be stealthy waiting for that potential moment to strike when you drop your guard.

I see only one real mystery in this entire video, and that's the fireplace beginning at 9:36. I've never seen one with a window centered immediately above it. Where's the chimney? At 9:56 we see evidence of past fires in the thing, so evidently it' was a working unit, and it appears that the fire burned symmetrically, so it isn't likely that it vents to one side. The wall is thick enough there to house a split chimney, but I've never heard of such a thing, and then to put windows on either side of that is just amazing. I'd like to see a shot of the building exterior at that location, although I have an idea that the chimney(s) is concealed on the exterior too. Still, it/they would have to vent to the sky well above the structure. Whatever the answer, I find it very, VERY COOL that someone bothered to engineer and build such an unusual thing. That's going above and beyond just to have something so aesthetically unusual.

You can carry smoke through pipes out of a chimney. The chimney might have been far from where the fireplace is and the pipes might have been cut in three different ways or there's a chimney underneath the window

Chimney was probably taken out after modern HVAC was put in. It may well have been unsafe and taken down for safety reasons. When it was removed, they put an outside window in the "alcove" left where the chimney had been.

That's what I was thinking. The workmanship on this house is absolutely stunning. It was clearly built with the idea of being a school and a place that would be seen and enjoyed. I thought it was one of those madhouse kinda places and you tend to think of people back in the day mistreating kids with any kind of physical or mental disability, but it sure looks like they made it as pleasing as possible and included art of things that might appeal to children, and put in fine chandeliers and woodwork. Maybe rich families sent kids here when they had problems. That might explain the quality.
