Awesome video! I visited Kaymoor for the second time today and was able to find many old sites and equipment along the former railyard. Hope to explore Nuttalburg next!!

I live not far from here and it’s sad to me that they didn’t try to keep this up since it is quite a tourist attraction for our state old historic places like this are always amazing to me

I used to go there to hike before the NPS established the signs and protected the buildings. I also went to the bottom but not on the stairs. I was there with a few students from Notre Dame and counselors from the New River Health Association summer camp. We took the tracks down to the tipple. You had to lean Down and hold on to the rail while using the ties as steps.

I don't understand how coal that has already been burned in a coke oven can still be of any use. :/
@WebsterHighlanders4 жыл бұрын
A coke oven effectively distills out all the bad parts of the coal, leaving a potent fuel for hotter burning. There are countless articles available on the internet describing the process used in these old coke ovens shown on the video.

My son and I hiked this over the 4th and whew! Burned those calories.

definitely not for the out of shape to tackle the hike to the bottom and back; talk about stair stepping!
