The 1.5 mile one way hike is mostly level except for the last few hundred yards which drops no more than 100 feet in elevation. A must do if visiting the park.

I love driving on this bridge, because of the view but about 60% of the time I get startled by the change in wind gusts 😂 (I am Ohioan)

I personally feel that pipeline came through our land. It should gave the local area citizens cheap affordable natural gas access 1st. Back in old days gas companies drilling wells on your mineral rights would give you free natural gas for your homes. I don’t think gas companies would had near the trouble if they offered that to land owners & mineral rights owners.

That's my land out through there from the beginning out. The trianlge area at 2:02 is the start of the driveway up the hill to my house lol. Would love to see it with all the snow, though like other commenters, i don't think getting out would be easy, but nice to see the lands. 2:29 is our picnic field out by the river. At the mill, we used to fill our water bottles up from the waterfall there... dunno if that's why we don't get sick is all the stuff we drank there lol.

As you go up Mudlick on the left fork of your land, near the back part further up the left fork, there appears to be two old house coal mines about 2/3 to 3/4 up the hill. Have you been to those? I'd love to go document those if you would kindly grant me permission to access your property. Thanks. By the way, just downriver about 1/2 mile from the Marpleton bridge on the right side going down, on the COE government land, I recently visited the old Hank Mollohan mines. There is a recent video on this channel about that.

Just at s glance, I didn't see a road or incline plane from them to a railroad or other infrastructure. Could that pulley and shaft have been for an aerial ropeway with buckets? Do you have access to historic aerial photos for that area?

Have you checked out the bench where the sun silica plant stood, it's a half mile from the power house, and there's a set of four sand silos still standing, and complete with some cat walks and some of the old belt line that fed them. You can sort of see them a little bit from the road way above, and you can walk to rail road tracks to see them up close. You can sort of kind of spot them on google earth as the shape of the stuff on top that interconnects them.

I actually can see the Lemont Furnace ovens from my house, but sadly I haven’t made it down to look closer. From what I’ve been able to find, there were three coke plants in Lemont. I’m not sure where the Lemont No. 1 was, but apparently only one row of Coke Ovens are left and they aren’t in great shape. I do know where the Lemont No. 2 was, and while some of the buildings from the actual mines are left, the ovens were mostly buried or destroyed from the photos I can find. As a result, I’m guessing this was the site of Lemont No. 3, but I haven’t found anything official that confirms that

Thunderstorm & Lightning coming over is what they highly suspect got them guys at Sago Mine on 01/02/2006 .
@WebsterHighlanders
@WebsterHighlanders Ай бұрын
Reports have never conclusively established whether it was lightning or a spark from faulty equipment, but the bottom line is that the mine had unacceptable levels of methane gas which exploded.
@Houndini
@Houndini 29 күн бұрын
@@WebsterHighlanders Correct I even talked to 1 of the Fed Inspectors for a long time over this accident. Way he talked I think he personally was leaning towards the lighting strike theory. Them real high gas level mines are very dangerous . I read the whole report a couple times before. To this day they not really sure. Probably a combination of couple things that came together at the wrong time wrong place. I knew 1 of them guys real good that got killed. Talked to him about 2 weeks before it happened. I lost count about all co-workers & friends I lost just coal mining,

What the hell? I'm not worried about the bats, what about all them spider looking creatures all around the bats? I thought at first, "Those look like spiders, do they move?" And guess what? They move. Now...How about them spiders?
@WebsterHighlanders
@WebsterHighlanders Ай бұрын
locals call them "cave crickets" and i believe that's what they are, as opposed to some type of spider; and yes, there are no dead cave crickets in any of the mines I've videoed, they are all moving, creepy for sure
@baldwintheanchorite
@baldwintheanchorite Ай бұрын
Spot on, another common name for Rhaphidophoridae is spider crickets so you weren't far off, Jack. They're totally harmless to humans and pets (aside from being a noise nuisance). At the cave of the Trois-Frères in Southern France, one of the finds included an etching of one of these little guys on a bison bone and those date from around 13000 BCE so we have cohabited caves with them for a very long time, indeed.
