man today I missed going to a huge abandoned church that is in mid demolition, the whole front was pulled down and you could see just awesomeness inside, like one of those dioramas, but I just haven't felt good today at all, so I didn't go lol. And I bet you're right, they leave the food words, cause chances are it will reopen as another restaurant. And I think they take down the name of the place just to reinforce that it's closed.
@WallieB267 жыл бұрын
That Nate Guy On KZbin I'm sorry you weren't feeling good, brother. Hope you're feeling better now. I didn't get a chance to watch your last 2 uploads but I'll watch them after work today. I see you got business cards. Anyway, it would be nice to reopen this building as a restaurant. Only reason I can think of the food words being left on the building. The place looks like it could be open within a few days with how clean it still is inside.

I had the same crisis looking into my childhood Kmart and Circuit City. I could see where I was standing waiting for my mom at the checkout and everyone was gone. I guess things don't last forever but it's just surreal sometimes. Half the businesses I loved are gone.

This King's is still abandoned, but the other King's in Heidelberg (which is now also abandoned) at the other end of Washington Pike is apparently going to become an El Campesino
@louisaloi91787 жыл бұрын
Apparently the traditional table service diner restaurants like Kings,Perkins,Dennys are having a tough time in the ever changing"new"economy.I liked them all sad to see them closing😞Like Nate says changing times negatively affecting a lot of old school traditional businesses we all liked growing up and fondly enjoyed.But it still comes down to the money💸💸💸expenses still rising and not enough volume not to mention problems with the help and management ultimately leads to this.Quite often very sudden closures like I said a very tough business to be in.Would be a great location for a new Dennys🍳☕Mericas Diner❤their # Brown's#
@WallieB267 жыл бұрын
It it a shame. But from what I typically see around here, Denny's and Perkins and even Eat N Park are rocking strong. They're always busy everyday.
@louisaloi91787 жыл бұрын
WallieB26:Wish that was the case where I live.Even Bob Evans an Ohio restaurant chain is struggling only 1 Perkins left out here and nearest Dennys is by the airport most of these types of restaurants the chain ones are dead or struggling.

That Nate Guy On KZbin I know, right?! I was surprised enough at the paper bins but that sign blew my mind away. Lol I can't believe it hasn't been touched. I just hope the wrong person doesn't watch this video and get any ideas. Hence why I state I don't touch anything or take anything when I go inside a place. I respect everything that is there and want everything to be in good shape. That sign looked immaculate.

I wish you could have gotten into the dining room too. But if there was a way in, it wouldn't have looked like it does right now unfortunately. It was great to have gotten into the basement though. The sign was a great find! When the property sells, the sign will likely either be tossed or painted over to reuse. I'm glad you got to see it and video it. I hate to see the traditional restaurants like this closing. We've lost some restaurants in our area too. Applebee's, Chile's, and our three buffet restaurants are doing well though. We have an IHOP that I don't know how it's stayed open. Great video and I really like the information you give about the locations when you know it! Thanks for sharing!

Wallie I love your explores. The restaurant looks like it used to be a Wendy's or something else before it was a King's Resturant. How do you get in these places? You ate there before it closed?
@scottlillis48497 жыл бұрын
When you first went in the basement, there was a brown wooden door that was closed. I wonder if you would have opened that door if that wouldn't have taken you upstairs.
@WallieB267 жыл бұрын
Scott Lillis Actually that brown door that appears to be closed is the door completely open for the first room I walked into. I checked. Behind the door was the wall. If that would have been an access to the upstairs, you bet I would have went up there.

After watching your BP video, I was going to clue you in on this spot, but then I peeped this vid & saw that you already discovered it. We used to go here all the time after a night of clubbing & drinking. The place used to stay packed 24/7/365 in its heyday, hence that ginormous parking lot was absolutely necessary...There were times when that entire lot was filled & people would have to park next door or at the dry cleaners across the street. It closed in the spring/summer of 2017, not too long before you explored it. As of right now, the building is still for sale, but Colussy Chevrolet (just beyond that Monro Muffler) has been using the parking lot for their truck inventory overflow. FYI for anybody thinking about exploring this Kings: SF & B-Ville PD love to hang out at that GetGo right across the way....The King's in Heidelberg that you mention is still open, but the one out in Robinson/Kennedy was closed & torn down, replaced of course by a GetGo.

LOL

It hasn't been closed long. From Wikipedia: In 2015, Kelly Capital purchased the Kings Family Restaurants.[3] The new owner was unable to provide growth to this ailing chain. On March 26th, 2017, it was announced that five of its earliest stores: Wexford, Bridgeville, Imperial, Harmarville, and Altoona restaurants would be shutting down at 7 p.m. that evening. Approximately 130 employees were given no notice, and were left jobless.[4]
@WallieB267 жыл бұрын
Mister Hat Thanks for letting me know. The Wexford location was open last year when we ate there in October. We were disappointed when we were planning on eating there a few weeks ago only to find it gone. I'll be filming that location soon. It's closer to my house than this Bridgeville location.
@WallieB267 жыл бұрын
Mister Hat And that's terrible. No advance warning that their jobs would be lost. That's really shitty for ownership to do.
@misterhat58237 жыл бұрын
Wallie, I agree. The lack of warning would be enough for me to never visit one of their restaurants.
@louisaloi91787 жыл бұрын
WallieB26:Very💩y,but very commonly done in that line of business in the hope everything there CAN be quickly sold to a new buyer and hopefully reopened soon.🙏

I'm really surprised that none of the Windows are smashed.its really shocking. It looks like a waitress was wiping down tables and her boss said ok people we're done,go home ! I'm just wondering if any of the employees took any food ,dishes,condiments home.the restaurant was closing so why not.

Hartley King should never have sold his chain to a California company! He’s probably turning in his grave! How dare they close these iconic Pittsburgh area restaurants! I was so sad when they closed then demolished the very first original Kings in North Versailles on Rt. 30 near me. I think it’s a GetGo now. Had many good times and meals at that Kings restaurant over the years.

As I’m seeing this it’s 2021, four years after this video posted, but.... ....that place can’t have been closed too long, as you said it’s virtually intact in the main floor, and that parking lot looks like it was redone not that long ago, and the painted lines were still looking like they had recently been painted.

Good pic with your phone/flashlight. Place looks in good shape. Glad to see no vandalism. Overgrown landscaping and some pretty major weeds.
