There was another west side Kmart in Cleveland on West 65th Street between Denison and Clark Avenues in the Clark / Stockyard neighborhood. It is now a Rose's Discount Store. I was there a few weeks ago. It was like a trip down memory lane. The store has many of the old check lane fixtures and some of the old aisle fixtures of the old Kmart.

This Kmart is literally 5 minutes from my house, and I cant believe its already been 2 years since it closed! They haven't seemingly done anything with the place or the property, even to this day. I always wondered what it looked like inside, but because of the sketchyness of the parkinglot I never drove up to look. Great video man! I am a new subscriber!

Someone must have seen what you did and, next thing you know, Kayla came into your life. So something wonderful will happen again for you both. Just watch. Maybe this KMart used to be a W.T Grant which was before most of our times. This is a big true Big K. Again sad to see this store and all the stores go.

One of your best videos. Able to see inside clearly. Not bad for night filming. Cool you were able to help the man but I still suggest carrying mace or something. I love the Hello! Sign. For getting inside ask the realtor leasing the building. Some may be willing to let you in. You can offer them a great video to advertise the renting of it. A win win

The was an old Kmart design that was used up until 1994. Ours in Peoria IL had that design from 1969-1998. They tore down the original K mart to put up a Schnuck's Grocery (St Louis MO based ) in 1999. The K mart Auto Center was the original red K and the Mart sign was Turquoise sign and never was changed to Penske Auto Center. It closed in 2002. Peoria Community Bank (Division of Morton Community Bank) brought the building and remolded the building and they have pictures up to what it looked before they remodeled and they have them hanging in the lobby. I still have a Kmart Auto Center bill I got from my grand parents before they died. It was for a repair done on their 1989 Bronco II I kept it was cool they had all new belts and a full tune up cost was 139.99 back in 1993.

Wow, that's a pretty neat story. I'm glad they left photos of the old Kmart auto center up after it closed. I have an old Kmart auto center bill and receipt I found at Shaler on the last day. It's from 1988 or 87 as well.

the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland is in the city limits of Cleveland, Ohio. It is not in Lakewood, Ohio. Lakewood is north of the West Park neighborhood. Grew up in Lakewood. This Kmart was built from the ground up and opened in 1983, I think. The site used to be a manufactured home park. There are still trailer homes in the southeast corner behind the Kmart somewhere.q

A lot of crime starts like that around here, but you can usually tell who is truly desperate for help and who is his trying to pull something. I grew up with the mentality that people helping people is important. People have helped me in the past... especially when my mother, brother, and I got flooded last year. So much help came in from everyone to get us back on track. I still owe the world a lot. This was just one step in that direction. There is a local township that fills up a school bus with donated toys to give to less fortunate children for Christmas that I donate to every year. This weekend they are doing another drive which I will be contributing to again, help make someone's day just a little bit better.

I know he's closing them all. He just does it in waves so he doesnt get a huge pile of real estate papers from the leases he ends up getting for other stores and tenants taking over all the closed stores at once. He is banking mad money off of this. Given how many stores are left, I expect 2 or 3 more lists and they're done.

Wallie I like your videos. You explain things well and give a good look. Remember the vacant Topps grocery store (2nd floor) as well as several other small stores. University Square shopping center in University Heights Ohio. The parking garage itself is in bad shape. No working elevators. The stairs are rusting. Some stairwells closed because the stairs are rusting so bad there are holes. All that is left a Applebees outside, a Macy's, and Target. Huge mostly abandoned shopping center and it will stay that way.

That's what I worried about. I've been going to Cleveland since I was little. And I've been all over the city and been in some nice areas as well as rough ones. Actually been to a few concerts in Lakewood so I kinda knew the area is meh depending on the street. Believe me, i was immediately saying no in my head when the guy approached us in the car. But then i could just see and tell he was legit, serious, and desperate. When he emptied out his pockets and offered me money just to ride him home, I felt I needed to do that favor for him. And I didnt even take his money. I didnt want it. I had been stranded years ago when my Sebring blew a motor and needed help. And it was also just as cold outside. And i could tell he had been having a bad night because of the situation so i just wanted to help him out and make his night a bit better. Plus, besides him being cold, I could tell he really didnt want to be in that area all by himself.
