This location was built in ‘70 so it would’ve originally had glass windows the entire length of the overhang roof. You can see the transition seam around 4:12. They started bricking up the full glass fronts on the original store design after the Kmart massacre in ‘85

If this is the Groesbeck-15 Mile Rd location, i think between 1965-70. Being from the Metro Detroit Area, i remember this place open around 1970.

Back in the day they used to have vending machines and horse rides out in front of the doors of that place. It was pretty cool.

I enjoy watching all of your content on your KZbin Channel Wallie! I really miss KMART. Here in Weirton, WV our KMART opened up in 1974 and closed in April 2017. We have Aldis and Big Lots in 2 sections of the former KMART. We have a pet shop that will be opening up in the near future, also in the former KMART next to Big Lots. So, at least business opened up in the former KMART store, providing jobs for people and not just sitting there rotting away. Weirton has alot of stores that went out of business that I miss shopping in. You're a great guy, Wallie. 👍👍👍

You should keep an infant in your glove box. Then when you come across a building like this one where there is only a small window, you could just strap a gopro on the kid and shove it through the window to crawl around and get footage.

I know a friend out there that has told me that they boarded up the windows only 1/4 of them were smashed by vandels 😔 The rest were in good condition I wish you a awesome day 😎🤘🫂

I love those old school lights. The most notable one was attached to the side of the building at 9:40. Also, inside the auto centre looked better condition than the rest of the building.

Hi Wallie, Back in the day when I used to work at the Kmart on Groesbeck Hwy and Cass in Mt. Clemens. I remember when this Kmart used to have windows in the front of the store. And I also remember when there was a Wrigley's Supermarket attached to the Kmart Building. After when Wrigley's Supermarket Closed Permanently and Kmart had broke the wall to the former Wrigley's Supermarket and extended the Kmart Store where Wrigley's Supermarket was in. The last thing I remember when Kmart Closed Permanently and a,Sear's Appliance Repair Store was in the former Kmart Store since Kmart and Sear's both merged. And I also remember Kmart's Store #1where Kmart first started in 1962when S.S.Kresge Company 5&10 cent stores owned Kmart. That Kmart Store was demolished for a LA FITNESS GYM in Garden City,where Kmart first started in 1962.

Another store I grew up going to. You got two nice videos for the price of one the day you filmed this. The Kroger and Kmart were only a mile away from one another. Bought a lot of school clothes and other random crap from that Kmart.

I remember when this location was closing. My dad bought so much useless stuff because it was so darn cheap. Also, Clinton Township isn't that bad of an area, I've lived here my whole life and honestly not a lot happens here, except for the explosion that happened very recently that was less than a mile away from this abandoned K-mart. For the most part though it's a fairly safe area. If you're in the Metro Detroit area you'll stay pretty safe if you stay north of 8 Mile Rd.

I grew up with kmart as well. E have about of former kmarts here in the St. Louis area. Most of them are now an At Home furniture store. Depending on the area. Hey. Wallie. Come to the St. Louis area sometime. I know the At Home by my house in O'Fallon Missouri used to be a kmart. I'm a big fan and you are amazing my friend. I watch your videos and and you do great. I remember being in this k-mart as a kid with my mom. I remember specifically one time, and I was very young, I had a red wing hat that was mine, I wore it in, but I for some reason took it off and left it on a shelf somewhere in the store and never saw it again. I remember crying on the way home because I lost it.

I wish I known you were in Michigan! My grandma Rose used to shop in this exact store back in 90 something before she passed away! I definitely miss this store. From what I heard there was a guy inside striping pipes and or electrical from inside. Absolutely blows me away too see you recording a building so close to me!
