I loved this farmhouse. You can clearly see how wonderful it would have been in its tip-top days. Seems it had rather up to date style/decor for the time period it was lived in. The large living/family room seemed like a grand place for a farmhouse too. I can picture the family gathering singing and playing the organ on feastful Sundays. Great 'happy feel' to this place. I have been watching oodles of your vids on the T.V, so unable to comment on those, but when on my laptap - like now I get to comment. I very much appreciate your respectful explores. Thanks for taking us along, stay well.

these people were very clear on how they wanted things set up. they went out of their way to provide services for their workers and isolate themselves from them for their privacy. after everything i learned from my parents,i can totally justify the layout of the house. my dear father approached the building of his last property,which i inherited,the same way. classic,lordly landholder. it doesn’t matter what it’s made out of,class goes a long way. thank you for sharing this video and so many more that you do 😊😎

Love this big old house! ❤️ Glad there were no cows this time. Lol We grew up with an old organ, like the one here, sitting in our living room. It was really ornate and even had the stool, covered in faded red velvet, that came with it. My mom and step dad collected antiques so our house was full of beautiful pieces. I was a young teen back then in the late 70’s and just took it all for granted...never really appreciated it like I do now. Such a wonderful find! Thank you for the tour of this once lovely home. Looking forward to the next one. Stay safe! 😉

At 16:44 where you point out the wallpaper scrap, the horizontal scar in the plaster about a foot or so down from the ceiling is where a picture rail would have been. Picture rails are a bit of molding with lip at the top where you placed a hook for hanging your pictures. Plaster doesn't take well to nails or screws and anchors, so a picture rail was used. They can handle quite a bit of weight if securely fastened to each stud. Once plaster fell out of favor to drywall, so did picture rails. What a terrific find!

First, love to see you are in protective gear, and Not Flip Flops!! Also, loved the into music. The pump organ: was built sometime about 1875 or so. You used your feet to pump sir to operate the organ! The company moved to Bowmanville Ontario, Canada, in 1873. In 1875 they changed their name from Bowmanville Organ and Pianos, to Old Dominon Organs and Pianos. That organ made a Long Trip from Ontario Canada, to Australia!! That was a neat old house, oviously added on to several times. Someone was trying to fix it up again, but it was probably a bigger job than first thought! Great Video!

Interesting house. The back room appears to have been an elaborately decorated room, with lovely high ceilings, wallpaper and carpet. I noticed that room had a powerpoint near floor level. I lived in an 1927 Californian Bungalow in outer Sydney and one of the rooms had the timber slats as seen in this house. The slats were covered in coir fibres and horse tail/mane hair and then plastered very carefully. So it seems that type of wall covering was around for a very long time. One of the entry hallways was quite wide, usually they're no wider that the normal sized door. This house had side lights if I remember correctly so I think this house had some wealth in it. I would love to see a photo of this house in it's prime.

Happy Easter!! What a beautiful old wreck of a home :-). That large room with gigantic ceiling and windows was incredible. I'm afraid it would be cheaper to rebuild than to restore. But if the termites and post beetles have not invaded the lumber perhaps some more salvaging could be done? Another fun find. Oh, to be young again and full of all that it takes to tackle a project like that. :-) P.S. Those cement blocks it's sitting on sure don't look like the type of things a heavy, solidly built house would be sitting on.. they're so thin, that it seems if the ground went soft they'd sink/shift/tip. I guess they knew what they were doing, but those are half the size of blocks I used to make a stand for a 10 gallon aquarium! Very cool old place, though. You deserve more subs and views.. You are so good at letting us see little things (like the pocketknife amid all the rubbish), and not just panning around. Always great camera work and editing. @@urbexindigo5164 I lived in Arizona for 4 years. They didn't have the venom your snakes have, but they could kill you just as dead just not as fast. There are 12 or more venomous species. The ranger at one of the parks told us to get bitten by a big old snake because they could control their venom. Using it on something too big to eat was wasteful. It takes energy to create it. The little ones always inject the maximum amount because they haven't learned to control it.

@@urbexindigo5164 At church last night we saw the movie, 'The Passion of Christ. At the end of the movie where Jesus is about to die on the cross you could hear thunder and the rain coming down on the roof of the church!! It rained for about 5 or ten min and just stopped. Holy cow! How werid is that? Well we have a sun raise service then the kiddies go Easter Egg (plastic eggs with candy inside) hunting. Should be a fun day. Hope yours is nice too.💖

I love the old organ. I think maybe it was built in Ontario? The Ont. after the Belle name on the right front?? Just a guess! I also noticed a florescent light on the ceiling in the kitchen cabinet area. Wondering when those lights date back to? Thanks for the video. The retired nurse in me is asking if you would wear gloves!!??? Thanks for considering it!

Yes others have stated Ontario is correct :-) That style fluro was a 50-60`s addition I think Patricia. I always forget my gloves! :-)

So sad to see the old pump organ falling apart. You pumped the foot pedals to fill a set of bellows that provided the pressure to the reeds. My grandmother had one of these. The button like things were called stops. They were pulled out or pushed in to change the sounds the keyboard produced. They were pricey back in the day. The house definitely dated from at least two era. Good idea to wear snake protection. Have a good Easter. Till next time, keep videoing and stay safe.

The old organ was really cool, thanks for the info about it Lynne :-) Yes the snakes are around so it good to be prepared :-)
@ghostcityshelton93785 жыл бұрын
Good to see the snake protection. Poor old home it's so far gone & you can tell alot of work and care went into building it but the move didn't do it any favors. Someone will maybe buy the land and maybe build a new home there. Another gem gone. There's an old mansion in Maryland that had huge beauitful windows and on both sides you can open a panel and the shutters still roll out, never saw that before. We had a fun time raising money for Vets in New Jersey. Had down range shooting contests. I won a turkey😁. There were hay rides. A funny toilet race where 3 folks to each toilet on wheels had to go in a big circle. Your every day carnival booths for kids to win stuff, bounce houses & good food & soda. We made after costs almost $5,000. for homeless Vets, it was a weekend event. I hope you have a wonderful Easter. I found yet ANOTHER 9 Morgan Silver Dollars all 'S' mints & they're beautiful in thick plastic bits & were in a bag. Why burry them? Was someone going though a divorce & was hiding them? In two months I've found almost 1 hundred Morgan's & other coins. Plus beauiful silverware with jewelry in the box. I just pray they are all real. They all past the ping test. Where you put a coin on your finger & tap it with another coin and if you get a high pitched sound that's a good sgin if not it's probably not real silver. I've sent away for a coin scale, & a magnet. If you hold the coin on 45 degrees and put the magnet up top on your coin and if slides down slowly that's good, if it goes down fast that's bad, if it sticks to the magnet the coin isn't real. My coins if real would be a grade way up in the 60s not a bad pay day if sell some at auction. 😁 If you go on line to ck what coins can sell for I hope you're sitting down. But yup, don't count chickens before they're hatched.
@urbexindigo51645 жыл бұрын
Wow Ruth that is a very noble effort for the old Vets, they really deserve way more that the government gives them that is for certain! Well done :-)

@@urbexindigo5164 Thanks! We had a blast. Painted kiddies faces, cotton candy. Used a bed sheet to see a movie while sitting on hay. If the coins do well I'd luv to help out with some money for you and Mike 5 explores & maybe get to visit Australia. Mike could get his Kangaroo coin. You'd get a cool coin too.

I can’t believe it was habitable in 2007, that’s only 12 years ago. Loved that intricate ceiling work, They don’t make them like that anymore. Beautiful home in its day, but still...living was hard work and life was unforgivable back then. It was a very God centered time, I can picture hymns being played on the organ on Sunday morning. Hard work and a fear of God we’re two facts of life 120 years ago.

Frame 16:05 makes another good photo with that organ in the background..why would someone move a house in that condition? Did the property belong or sold to someone else?

Hi Elizabeth, im not sure if the lady who owns the property moved the house. Probably got it for nothing and had high hopes of bringing it back to life :-)

This place was close to extravagant for a farm house. Wow, 2 bath rooms. So cool that your grandfather may have moved it and if so, from where , when and why. I’d love to know. Since the chimney holes were still vacant did that mean they never occupied the house? Liked your boots and glad to see you protecting yourself. I’ve been curious about the snakes, even though I like snakes, wouldn’t want you bit.

That's a huge old house! The slats really tell the age don't they? I used to live in an older house with slats and horse hair plaster. The only bad thing was when you put a nail in the wall you could hear the plaster fall inside the walls. The pump organ is from Canada must have cost a pretty penny. Just think your Granddad probably moved it! Awesome 👍

Yep the rear section is definitely the oldest part Vonda, that plaster did not like the travelling when it was moved! lol. Crumbled everywhere! Can't imagine why someone would pay to have that house moved there. It's certainly not in very good condition and I don't think all the damage is from the move. Interesting place though, kind of 3 houses in one. Thanks for sharing.

I am thinking maybe the house hasn’t been inhabited since being moved here. It happens a lot over here in Tasmania, old farm houses being moved to farm property and just dumped with the intention of maybe being made habitable. Our beach house was actually relocated from a hydro village and is on pine poles.
@urbexindigo51645 жыл бұрын
I agree Wendy, someone has had a bit of a tinker but thought gee this is way too much work! haha The owners of the property prob got it for nothing. Thanks for watchng :)
@wendyhou34165 жыл бұрын
I say this because it is a lot of different building just tacked on and the holes in the floors in different rooms where the fire places should be. This would have been done before moving the house as they would move it with a brick chimney in place. There is no indication they have been pulled out insitu as there is no brick rubble around. Nobody would live in a house with those huge holes in the floor.
